Its not only a big change, the damage output is horrible. You never feel like you are doing any damage. Weak and boring…. Healing is good though!

Impossible to say in prepatch tbh. They could turn up the dial on lava burst week 1 of the season and all of a sudden the spec is OP and everyone is playing it having a great time.

Their apex talents will do a lot. 35% more overload damage, 50% more crit damage, and a 1/4 chance of a double overload.
Unfortunately it is not any better on beta. You can just watch an ele shaman stream or watch a pvp beta stream and look for eles there, it’s cooked. Damage is bad, mobility is meh, cc is meh, survivability is quite bad. It’s workable if it does great damage though but currently it does not even on beta.

Ya. Spec does tank damage in raid now, but seems middle-of-the-pack fine on mythic raid testing.

Ele has a lot of really good buttons just no damage. Which is typically exactly where you want to be pre season because if they turn the knob up youre solid
Ele is just so weird it constantly summons random RNG spawns\things and its so annoying\spammy now in warwithin with the hero talent that spawns the spirit dudes

There’s like 4 specs now that have that similar summons some temp pets.
The rate the devs keep going half the specs are going to have some x pets for x duration when you use this ability.

Putting flame shock on blaze seems weird feel like you can just dispel off CD and an ele will never do damage almost wonder if after some time ele players will just drop that talent all together
But yeah lacking damage right now is where you want to be, I feel like a lot of players are somehow confused and think there’s not going to be huge balance tuning before the season starts

Yeah.. I kept trying to see if it was me but its just bad. Its fun, has a lot of cool things but its so weak and non exciting when something hits that it feels more like a weak tank. Really weak tank.

I don’t see how they can make lava burst do good single target damage when pwave on a 4 second CD exists. Gotta be a BG hero.
Its 7.5s CD with everything talented. But yeah its hard to tune that properly for sure. Lightning bolt is probably how they can increase ST damage without needing to touch Lava Burst, they made it so we can talent into a faster cast for Lightning Bolt and buffing it would also benefit Stormkeeper. Would give us more to press/cast outside of just waiting for instant Lava Bursts especially now that Icefury is gone. That or they could buff Earth Shock but they need to be careful with that.
The main issue is that its very weak defensively and doesn’t have a great way to utilize its heals. If they buff Lightning Bolt enough to make it useful outside of Stormkeeper its possible Storm Conduit could be played maybe which would give Ele more mobility/survivability/utility (reduces CD of Gust of Wind/Astral Shift/nature totems by 1 sec every cast of Lightning Bolt and reduces Lightning Bolt interrupt duration by 30%). But regardless I think if Ele gets the damage buffs it needs before season starts it’ll be good.
Perfect , this is exactly where you want Ele during pre patch. Couple people love playing it over at Blizz HQ for M+, so damage tuning will come in time. Voltaic is used for blitz and melee cleaves.

This is the biggest issue with Ele in both PvE and PvP right now. I’m actually kinda surprised they haven’t just added back Flame Shock by now. Voltaic Blaze shouldn’t even be a replacement for Flame Shock, it replaces Liquid Magma Totem+Prim Wave. It does a great job replacing both of those, but replacing Flame Shock is very bad in all forms of content.

Meanwhile it also does the WORST healing out of any dps spec on a class that can heal. It’s absurd.

Shaman finally got the survivability they’ve been asking for for 5 expansions and it immediately got removed after there was the slightest hint that they might be as strong as ret or dh.
