I don’t care if classic is dead. I’m coming back to it and embracing my big bad self so I can live my best life. Modern games suck.
Go for it. Whitemane for PvP and Mankrik for PvE aren’t dead. You’ll have fun.
The thing is I leveled this toon on a server cluster that it’s fair to call dead… because there was nothing on the AH and like 10 real players from both sides online at a time. I’d still have people randomly messaging me and I made friends with one guy who I helped quest and I gave bags to, and bags on a server like that are huge. I even suggested he take the free transfers to Whitemane for more people but he wanted that super low pop.
So seeing people say that you need so many people around that there is zero name recognition and no server community is strange to me, but I’ve seen Usforumboi troll before so I think this is just more of him being bored. I get that some people want to find a raid pug at 4am within 3 minutes so sure if you only play for that maybe the Era pop isn’t a good fit, otherwise it’s fine.
Era is much lower in popularity. My opinion, which is shared by others, is that the issue is a lack of fresh servers being launched.
A few hundred of us have rolled fresh characters on Deviate Delight (NA) so we can have a fresh economy. If Blizzard won’t launch new servers, that’s the best option for a lot of us. There’s another forum post here for it.
With the rapid rise in player numbers, we hope that Blizzard can see that the player base would benefit from a fresh server and launch a few.
Although it feels good when the game is more ‘alive’, WoW Classic Era doesn’t really need thousands of people on one server for the game to survive. We have about 400 on Deviate Delight and it feels more populated than retail - due to the content there being split up so much. When we start hitting endgame we have a large guild on both sides that will be as good as a guild anywhere else, with access to a better economy and a better community.
Fresh servers wont solve anything. It’ll just make bots flood back in, 2-3 months and the economy will fall in shambles. GDKP spam will be massive.
The only true saving grace for ERA is leave it the hell alone and quit patch bundling it with the other versions breaking people’s addons or macros OR creating new bugs that never should have existed.
If people arent satisfied with that statement or plan… Maybe a fresh prog server that goes through the phases all over again every 2 months. After it’s caught up to the last phase/patch it’ll be clustered with regular ERA.
This.
This would be the way forward. Launch fresh servers that eventually (2 years, maybe?) get merged together with the existing clusters and a new batch of fresh servers rolls out.
The bots, GDKPs and gold buying are an issue in themselves. No matter what Blizzard does in any version of the game, they’ll exist until they are fixed. For now, we play around them.
Nah, classic era is definately playable PvE side for most dungeons and some 10 man, more so than much newer games like new world lol.
Yet it is far from te glory of post ulduar wotlk and hardcore addon. It’s pug raid scene is dominated by gdkp and PvP is in shambles you no getting rank 12/13/14 anytime soon though so realistically you either swipe or level alts.
uh, one, it’s a fresh sixty, and two, frak you.
While we pull statistics out of a cracker jack box Ill remind you that low pop means its low pop, not dead. Dead implies next to no one is playing it which would make basic things like running a dungeon extremely difficult which is not the case.
Mankrik horde are the minority faction on the second best populated cluster and there are multiple horde guilds running Naxx. Is Classic WoW better with 6k players instead of 2k? I dunno, seems pretty subjective but its not literally dead as per your opinion.
i mind you that low pop is the lowest it can go and that is with it being combined 12 servers ???
It is dead per every objective metric you can meassure it by. But sure keep the lies rolling, that a barely functioning gdkp scene is an “alive” game.
For you maybe. Do you even play Era? If not, why are you here dissing everyone who is enjoying the game.
Boi, what a dumb word… are you twelve or something?
Show us on the doll where Classic Era hurt you.
The GDKP scene is functioning. Our guild hosts like 30 raids a week that all fill up in under 10 minutes. It sounds more like people just are not interested in playing with you specifically.
There is no objective metric other than ‘zero players’. Dead means it doesn’t rightfully exist anymore. There’s several thousand people playing Era. There is no metric you can point to that says that’s a dead game. All you can say its not as popular as other games in comparison or that its niche. Ask any true Era main if that’s something they spend a whole lot of time worrying about.
So one of the “objective” metrics you’re selling just so happens to perfectly align with your personal beliefs about GDKP participation? Could it be that Era players (depending on cluster) don’t care much about GDKP?
Don’t get me wrong, GDKPs happen but guilds are still the defacto standard for raiding in Era cuz its more fun that way. There’s also plenty of pugs for things like ZG/AQ20/MC which probably ferret a few more raids away from GDKP. I hope you’re right about GDKPs though, good riddance.
Classic is dead. Long live Classic!
been playing lately, early game is definitely still alive and well. i see constant LFM in town for all sorts of content too
If you run every week for months with the same GDKP group it basically feels and acts like a guild. Except there’s no loot drama
I dont think its impossible to make friends and have fun in GDKP raids or anything like that. Id be surprised if that wasn’t the case. 60 WoW is a really fun game.
what servers are everyone on?
It’s not dead on Faerlina…you may be picking a server where your faction isn’t popular.
If you go to Faerlina as an alliance member, youre not going to see many people. Most of the people on that server are Horde. If you play as Horde, you’ll see people everywhere. The chat will be exploding.
Benediction has mostly Alliance.
Maybe thats why you thought it was dead. Check the server faction balance before joining. Of course
If you bring your own friends…it won’t matter.
Is that why you hide on a forum alt, so we can see you lying about filling raids in 10 minutes LMAO
