Vanilla is best when all the streamer-bandwagoners are not there. They came in droves in late 2022 / 2023 and dramatically reduced the level of gameplay and brought with them thousands of bots. Now they are all in SOD
Era is healthy again, and still whitemane is more populated than any vanilla server was. There are over 6000 toons raiding each week and lots leveling ontop of that, it is far more packed than any OG vanilla server.
Define “dead”. Standard definition these days is ‘not a megaserver = dead’. Im leveling horde side Mankrik and sometimes its been tough getting enough quest mobs in a reasonable amount of time - feels pretty good to me though from a not dead server/faction perspective.
You only need a few hundred active people relatively evenly split among the factions to have a solid experience. Mankrik cluster is alliance dominated but the horde side has got plenty of life to it. If I had to guess Id say that was like a couple to a few hundred horde side to several hundred to a thousand alliance players although there is some crossover and plenty of part timers (Era is not their main game).
Even so it makes for a pretty fun experience. Especially if you got some time on your hands.
they combined 12 servers and those 12 servers have gone from hight, to medium to low pop. If that isnt dead, what is, when 12 servers cant even keep medium pop ?
Imagine posting from an anonymous forumboi account on a “dead games” forum arguing with people who actually play said “dead game” about the state of the game. Lol.
I don’t know if they’re counting every cluster as one server and applying the label to every server in the cluster or their high-med-low metrics are using numbers from each individual server name and making the determination. If its the latter then you have a bunch of merged up low pop servers operating as a single medium pop server, in which case the individual player on the cluster is having a perfectly fine experience.
Its 1pm on a wednesday and Mankrik (cluster) have roughly 120+ horde and a few hundred alliance. While those numbers might not be knocking anyones socks off it still means the game is far from dead - which is still lacking a concrete definition btw.
You have a several thousand players raiding Era every week. Era is fine.
They are all connected as one server, their “pop” is all linked, which is why their “low”, “med” “high” status all change at the exact same time. Outside of the clusters the rest are individual servers that have never recovered from low pop.
A few hundred players online at a normal day hour is good in what world, for the clustered mega server ?
Anything less than solid 5-10k minimum is beyond a dead game… Mind you private servers have more players that 120 horde + some alliance…
Okay so what you’re really saying is it would not appear to be overly popular based on your own personal set of criteria. Thanks for sharing.
No regular Era forum poster/player Im aware of is saying the game is competing with retail, SoD or even Wrath classic in terms of population numbers and Im fairly positive none of them care either.
You can roll a toon on the mankrik cluster, find an active guild, run dungeons, raid and pvp and the AH isnt too bad either. Thats all you need.
Oh I got ya, I was just being as opportunistic as you were. I wasn’t feeling as “generous and courteous” as you were in giving that poster an out.
These discussions are always absurd. You can’t push an Era is most assuredly dead narrative. We’ve been there. We know what that looks like. This aint it.
I don’t know what you mean, I haven’t heard of vanilla servers being shut down, we just get bugs from sod updates and the server merges are for wotlk servers going into cataclysm.
