So Ardenweald story is as much troll as night elf?

No it is, which is why you don’t see me backing that person up or agreeing with that post. I pointed out the first name calling I saw, you pointed out the second. The difference is I’m not trying to justify either.

It’s a druidic zone, not a night elf one.

Complementary to your point about the Troll stuff, you also don’t see the Tyrande stuff unless you pick them as a covenant.

Then why did you say he was the only one to call names, instead of the first?

This is a chad Drust zone.

You’re mean

No you’re mean

Well I’m only mean cuz you are

And I’m only mean cuz you were one time before

Well you started it years ago

Blah blah blah cringe.

A summary of the faction war so succinct you could pass for a neutral character that makes no sense to remain such.

Ardenweald draws really heavy on European fantasy forest stuff. So do the Night Elves and the Drust. Honestly, if you rip out dialogue at the beginning and the end of the leveling campaign, it would pass for an HD Kalimdor zone without blinking, one with neutral factioning but way more lore ties to the night elves than anyone else.

The evolution of your gear is something.

Ever since transmog was first added, I’ve done this dumb little gimmick where I change myself into incredibly boring civilian clothes so that I look like I was just pulled away from vacation for whatever weird adventure the next expansion makes me do. I like watching the pieces get replaced as I gradually “go native” in the new content. I fought my way out of WoW Hell in slacks, a vest, a fishing hat and a walking stick.

Except for this hat. I dislike it very much and forgot to hide it before logging off. I feel like I’m wearing that creepy iron maiden priest helmet.

I do try to be respectful.

Like I said, your feeling is entirely fine. And it is a very human thing to make connections like that. I don’t think it is silly. What we bring can add and make things better. So, it is not a bad thing to bring those connections. It is just important that we understand what we bring vs what was actually put there. The danger is bringing a connection of our own but seeing at something put there (a mistake anyone can make) and then feeling maligned by it. And you can look through this thread and see more than a few examples.

Not everyone can keep those separate, very few honestly. Your original post showed that at least to a degree you did recognize that you brought some of your own connections. And that is commendable.

There is supposed to be a Bwonsamdi quest arc where he goes to Ardenweald at some point. I saw it on Youtube. Not sure how you get it or when.

I think that’s part of the Night Fae covenant campagin

Well, seeing as he is hands down the best character in the history of WoW - best written, best voice acted, best subplot - there you go.

I’m already salty about having to pick…ugggghhhh…Kyrian, for gameplay reasons. Easily the best reason to go Fae is Bwonsamdi, regardless of whatever else is in the zone.

Looks more like a Night Elf and Troll Focused Zone with a mix of Kul’tiran Drust in it.

It fits NE themes way better than any other race. You have to admit that.

Honestly I didn’t mind it, but it felt both very narrow in its concept and a touch too generic for what I felt a fae forest could be. I think the art and sound team did a pretty good job but the writing and narrative kind of fell flat with that potential. It could have been the love child of Drustvar and Val’sharah. Hell, change all the Fae for NEs and I wouldn’t have even noticed any difference thematically.

I just think, for an afterlife it was wasted potential.

Genuine question. Where was the Troll part? Nothing in it really invoked troll themes to me. I know there is a bit of that in the Covenant campaign but having not done that myself, I see nothing that resembles Troll stuff.

There is the de other side dungeon. So It might be in Ardenweald.

Are you honestly serious? them being 1st implies that at the time of my reply they were also the only one. Sigh, but sure let’s argue semantics, that’ll lead to a productive conversation for sure.

Well it’s very pretty looking but is full of generic and dull as dishwater garden variety protagonist types so, yeah, sounds like the Alliance to me.

The entrance is. That all about it. The only troll thing in Ardenweald is that loa need their pod to resurrect and the other side entrance is there. The entrance could have been in maldraxus and there wouldn’t be any difference.

Other then that, nothing. The whole troll after life being nothing but a dungeon in a zone that is a reflection of a night elf them ( emerald dream).
