Look I pvp. We talk crap about one another and some times things get spicy and I just end up having to set people to “ignore”… but apparently theres a limit on how many people you can ignore?
Like why? Lol.

You’re wasting your finite number of ignores on people that you’ll probably never see again, just use the report spam option as a temporary ignore (it does no harm to the other person if it’s just you doing it).
Imagine having people on ignore.
Old code.
Yes, I believe the limit has been around 50 since the game started. I believe each character counts as well since we don’t have account wide ignore to my knowledge.
It would be nice to have a larger list. I know there have been addons that increase the limit, but the standard limit is pretty low.
It’s just a report spam temp ignore, nothing happens as a result of it (beside you no longer seeing their spam), i do this all the time in pug content when people have addons set to be super spammy announcing all of their spells and abilities, or worse yet, people that macro stuff (“funny” stuff) into their spells lol
The in-game social system dates back to 2004. It is very very antiquated. The Battlenet social system is updated and has a lot more options and capability. That is what most modern Blizzard games use.
The 20 year old system has limits - and the ignore list is one of them. It has always been limited and unless they overhaul or replace our in-game chat system, always will be. Friends lists had limits, guilds had limits, etc. Some things got expanded over the years, but not Ignore.
I think so too.
Sort of but no? If you ignore me from Akariliselle, it will take up one spot on your ignore list, but will ignore me across all my chars that I have on your server. Akari won’t need to ignore my other server chars. However, you have a separate ignore list for each of your characters so you need to put me on ignore from each of your chars…
Very antiquated!
There are addons though that will resolve it! If you just don’t want to see their text ever again. It is not an official ignore in the grouping system in-game but does solve the chat issue.
This is false. That’s sending a report to Blizzard that they have to review and it adds up on your account if you’re falsely reporting.
Because everytime someone talks or emotes the server has to parse everyone’s list to know who to and not to display it to. Every entry on these lists adds to the load on resources.
I put people on ignore too but my ignore list is usually empty. I can’t fathom a reason to have a full list of permanently ignored people. Lol.
Unfortunately since the in-game ignore system is not actually a 2 way account wide ignore, so we have to resort to using add-ons like this;
Just clear out some of the old entries.
They do not, just me report spamming someone for a temp ignore isn’t getting looked at by a real person, it takes multiple people all reporting a person before the system puts a squelch on them, then a real person might look at it to decide if it has merit, but it would usually expire before any appeal/review did anything anyway.
If you are right click reporting names in chat, you are sending in a report to Blizzard’s system.
Stop using a report as an easy temp ignore. It is absolutely ridiculous that I have to even say that.
I don’t know why I’m bothering to repeat myself, because you surely already read that the system doesn’t do anything about them until there are multiple reports coming in about the same person.
No, what i find to be spammy is entirely up to me, it’s subjective, what i find to be spam, you may not, and what you find to be spam, i may not. You don’t get to dictate to me what is or isn’t spam-worthy lol
And you telling people to use a REPORT FUNCTION just to temp ignore means more people are REPORTING players which add up.
I’m only going to say this one more time:
Period. End of story. Not responding further.
That’s fine, you don’t need to respond, because you’re not the boss of anything and you can’t dictate to anyone what is or is not spammy to them lol
I think I have three people on my ignore list for about the last 10 years. If somebody is filling up their ignore list and capping it, they are probably the problem. We’re talking about people. You will probably never play with again and if somebody is absolutely stalking you and whispering you constantly, you simply report them and move on.
I can only hope this is true, and it would be nice for serial flagging on the forums too.
I’ve played this game for many years. So thanks to that, the pvp playerbase, the ungodly amount of spam bots, fake MC/Nax groups, SA/asian foreign language groups that got thrown into the NA pool sometime during SL in the group finder, carry run sellers and just the general douchebaggery that occasionally occurs, I have about 1800 people on my GIL.
A 50 player character limit that isn’t even account wide is laughable and always has been laughable.
why are you bothering to ignore them? If you report them and move on you never see them again. Because once you report them, they usually end up getting banned and then they are never actually seen again. You’re ignore list. Probably has 843 accounts that don’t even exist in the game anymore.
