It’s DPS players fault
player created problem. too many players abusing tanks and healers is why you cant get dungeon groups, y’all did this to yourselves.
They’re not trying to fix it as of yet. You’re probably going to have fewer tanks with the changes to warrior and paladin coming next patch.
I know I’m shelving my warrior with what they’re doing to prot.
Nah, I don’t care about any of that.
Blizzard has taken fun out of tanking and keep nerfing them.
Increase the group size to have a better dps:tank ratio.
Tanks are toxic and oppressive and frankly I think they need to be removed.
No one at all wants to wait for some beefy boy to save the day and take all the damage and make the game extremely boring!
The solution is to remove them and add in new role types.
I feel like we should enact the social contract to help with the tank shortages. Any DPS who creates an issue in a mythic + should be reported so their actions can be reviewed. Anytime I join a group, I tell them right away about the social contract and if they leave that is a breach of it or cause any disruptions to the game play by being disrespectful.
That would likely be too destructive. It would require a complete teardown and rebuild. They’d have to redesign all the mechanics. Healers would need to be buffed to be able to keep more alive. It would also reduce one of the main selling points of m+, being that it requires a smaller group.
Providing an alternative would maintain m+ in its current form for the people who like it. Drastic changes to try to fix it would likely break it for those people and wouldn’t even be a guaranteed fix.
You’re either the kind of player who enjoys tanking, or you’re not. Blizzard can’t control what players like to do they can just provide options for the ones who like tanking (which they have done, you CANNOT say there aren’t enough specs that can tank).
Healing is the same thing, you either like it or you don’t. This issue lies entirely with the players as every single game without exception that has role division like this has this exact problem.
Tanks have more responsibility than any other role but no perks to go with it. Tanks need to know the route for every dungeon and what trash to pull and when. They need to keep an eye on all aggro and make sure dps who are all focusing different targets dont rip threat or buttpull a pat.
At least in previous expansions tanks had more self sustainability, so you were more comfortable keeping yourself alive and didnt have to worry about a healer busy picking their nose with one hand and using the other to keep a dps alive who wont move out of floor poop.
As for the abuse, that goes both ways. Some players lose it if a tank takes a deviation to what they’re used to, but hey, the tank is leading the key, so just be quiet and follow them. But that also means tanks do have the higher responsibility which means its not as acceptable to go into a dungeon with 0 idea of route or even mechanics.
to fix the tank issue for high end content, they just need to allow the level 11 warriors in mythics/raids and the problem will go away. zoom zoom boom boom
It is on blizzard tho when they massively gut tank self sustainability between expansions while giving them nothing in return.
Any shortage is strictly a community problem. Do the tank changes suck? Yes of course, that said it doesn’t help when some random person starts complaining the tank is squishy and starts acting like a temper tantrum child or a 40 year old that still thinks hes 16 and just discovered 4chan and bricks the groups key over something absolutely stupid.
Other factors include the absolute insane obsession over meta specs. -ALL- tanks are fine unless you’re doing +12 and higher then it starts to matter a little. People outright refusing to invite BMs even for +2s. I know it’s not common but I’ve seen it on a few occasions throughout the season. Blizzard keeps saying they dont want to make spec changes mid season because it ruins things for the people playing that class. But everyone else that isn’t that class suffering all season is perfectly fine? Come on now.
Lack of punishment for bricking someones key is also a major problem. Put a debuff on someone if they randomly leave. Random BGs are so trivial yet you get a debuff for leaving and it doesn’t even hurt the team much because that person gets replaced. If a M+ cant be completed due to too high of a difficulty, let the group do a vote to end the dungeon to avoid the debuff.
A lot of things are getting fixed in season 2. Hopefully it’ll be a better season but we’ll see. Blizzard makes a lot of dumb decisions, but the games community is stil
lmao, I would run them every day
If we went from 5 man dungeons to 6 man dungeons that would be a 33% increase in dps per tank in a group. That’s huge!
They do this level of tuning at the start of every season anyways. And all the changes they’d have to make for healers is changing a lot of aoe spells that hit 5 targets to 6. Not that big of a deal imo.
i can’t tank i have no backpedal keybind. yall do it!
they need to add some sort of game mechanic that incentivizes people to not be terrible monsters to each other.
I think systems that would allow you to vote for someone MVP at the end of a dungeon like they do in final fantasy would really help to change attitudes.
I mean
YOU could play tank
You could roll a tank yourself to do your part in ending the so-called gatekeeping of lack of tanks.
I disagree. Integrate a bounty system to the group finder, allow the group to put up gold into escrow, maybe with different payouts for completion/+1/+2/+3
Then you can guarantee you’ll get a tank, but only if you pay enough to attract them.
That works in ff14 because their moderation is ruthless about banning people who are openly abusive. You need incentives to be good, but punishment to deal with people who can’t be tempted by those incentives.
