probably will be resolved in an upcoming novel, and quietly patched out of the game

for me this expansion will never be a 8/10 because the story plot-hole of the Giant Sword.

What do you want to do about it? The artifact weapons were drained of power to end Sargeras’ corruption. I’m fairly certain that was closure.

What plot hole?

Nothing yet. It might not be resolved for a long while. Some things are just consequences that stick around.

Azeroth is fine though. She’s not dying anymore, we healed her up and closed the injuries. It’s kind of like a fashionable piercing now.

Is this guy trolling us? I can’t tell.

Trolling because the story of the sword ended? It’s the size of Mount Hyjal. The sword was drained of power at the end of Legion and we healed Azeroth in BFA.

What do you want to have happen?

So the giant demon sword that was full of demon magic that was going to slowly kill Azeroth

All its demon magic is sapped, it’s basically just a piercing now

None of us are world doctors, it’s better to leave the sword in than risk pulling it out (somehow) and causing further damage

Piercings are all the rage with teen Titans.

Azeroth is keeping it for when Blizzard runs out of ideas and brings Sargeras and the burning Legion back for another go after he escapes Illidan jail.

You are probably right.

Next thing you know she’ll be getting a tattoo and staying out late to annoy her parents.

Blizzard can’t make up their minds on how they want to deal with it.

On the one hand, they like the idea of Azeroth eventually being born as a Titan, pulling the sword free of the planet, and purifying it, showing that a woman’s touch can cleanse even the most vile corruption by man.

On the other hand, they also like the idea of a Sword in the Stone rip off where Anduin goes to Silithus and pulls out the Sword to become Ultra High King-Chief of the Horlliance. It also has the nice message of Anduin defeating Sargeras’ super toxic masculinity because he’ll cry while pulling it out.
