Lets all agree right now that mythic+ has an issue when it comes to delegating responsibilities, tanks and healers see a lot more responsibility in a dungeon compared to dps.
This has alienated many tank and especially healer players away from the role entirely this season, time and time again though it’s been proven that creating responsibility for the dps role is hard because dps wants to, well, dps.
How about we add more incentive to kicking/interrupting casts in dungeons? how about adding a %damage increase to a player who successfully interrupts a cast? i feel a blanket change across all dps specs in the game adding a %damage increase for 10-15 seconds would incentivize a lot more dps players to look to utilize their kicks/interrupts, in regards to people fighting for kicks on mobs you could add a small aoe dmg increase to your other dps players, say the main individual who kicked a mob gets a 10-15 second 5% dps increase and the other 2 dps get a 2% dps increase, or perhaps the same 5% but with a shorter duration.
You’d have to update the way kick interaction works in the game right now though, in many pug groups players typically find themselves kicking the same cast and overlapping their kicks, if something like this was added i feel the issue would be compounded.
They could add a 3-4 second cooldown to an unsuccessful kick on a mob or maybe only on a mob that has been recently successfully interrupted, this could fix the overlapping kicks issue entirely.
Overlapping kicks is a big reason why many caster packs can feel difficult in the current m+ environment (and trust me, there’s a lot of caster packs.)
especially in a pugging environment where voice chat typically isn’t being utilized.
Wondering if people have other ideas.
Me as a recently rerolled prot pal
I think they need to:
- Undo the nerf to stops.
- It made PUGing brutal cause now it’s WAY WAY more punishing to overlap CC/Interrupts.
- Make sure tanks never need to choose between threat or dying.
- I think they need to make tanks passively more durable for starters. They shouldn’t be able to die just cause they messed up their opener.
- The skill floor needs to be raised so tanks can focus on mechanics, positioning and doing damage instead of just trying desperately not to die.
- That in turn makes a healers life way easier.
- We also need more content that trains people to use their buttons… like all throughout the game. People shouldn’t have to spec into interrupts or dispels… and the UI should light up and be printing some dopamine when you use those buttons.
- Interrupting an enemy should be REALLY satisfying.
- Dispelling yourself or friend should also be super satisfying.
- Using a defensive CD should make some really satisfying sound when you mitigate damage with it… and give off some cool visual effect that prints dopamine… Maybe even staggering NPCs when you’re out and about the world questing…
- Incoming attacks should all be real telegraphed to give people the opportunity to program themselves to use basic utility skills.
- That way, when people start doing harder content – it isn’t shell shock when they NEED to use these abilities… they just do what they’ve always been doing… and they shouldn’t need an addon to tell when they need to use these abilities.
- Encounters should be designed so that players can see what is happening clearly – and if players can’t tell when they need to use defensives… then the encounter teams need a slap on the wrist and to do a better job.
There is a certain point where listening to pro players for advice on how to tune things basically just leaves average people in the dust…
- There is a huge vacuum for semi-casual players that want something harder than LFD/LFR that is fun repeatable content to do for funsies – w/o the hassle of joining a guild or some other social construct.
Blizzard is spending all these resources appealing to really sweaty players, and people who just wanna collect pets and decorate a house… which is great for them – but all the folks in the middle are just getting completely ignored.
I dunno – that’s just my take anyways.
I kinda figured Delves would be the answer, but it turns out that PUGs keep things dynamic… and sometimes the social interactions are entertaining. I think they need to stop trying to kill PUGs, and embrace them / focus on improving the experience… and less on trying to force people to coordinate… cause that’s like herding cats… and some of us don’t wanna be herded.
