Slow Tanks are abusive; Solo or Chain pulls are possible

People were speeding through dungeons long before m+

I believe that to be obvious and simple common sense. Iā€™m pretty certain the notion heā€™s speaking of is the current abundance of it.

I mean, every dungeon wrath and beyond was done fast, barely anyone wanted their dungeon runs slow

M+ has nothing to do with it. Itā€™s been a thing since TBC retail. if the tankā€™s gear can handle it, then thereā€™s no excuse not to pull more.

Oh shut it already. Itā€™s not like you guys are any good

Itā€™s not even debatable how wrong that is.

Thereā€™s never been a rule of ā€œIf the tankā€™s gear can handle it, then thereā€™s no excuse not to pull moreā€. This is a practice that some tanks have adopted. The concept of being able to do what you want just because you can is something thatā€™s just part of life - people do it all the time, right or wrong.

If people pulled like they do now back in TBC retail they would have been wrecked. It was just a different time. The massive pulling, at least in some comparison to the way it is now, didnā€™t really start until closer to the end of LK.

M+ isnā€™t the absolute reason, but Iā€™m certain it stands to reason that it is likely the most prevalent catalyst.

As a healer main, I like to see this. Thank you. I love a tank that can manage large pulls as much as the next person, but I love keeping the group alive and not having to focus my heals on myself more.

The nice thing is, when a tank holds aggro appropriately regardless of how large the pull is, I then get the opportunity to weave in some dps to help. As a shaman, I shouldnā€™t have to pull out my rock elemental because the tank canā€™t hold aggro, but I will if it will benefit the group.

A good tank makes for a good dungeon experience regardless of the pace. Time may be money, but getting the group killed in a messy attempt to rush the dungeon isnā€™t.

Added in post: I wanted to add that I am extremely patient with new tanks ā€” so the above really only applies to more experienced tanks.

I cant wait for you to hit mythics and then you come back here complaining about people not doing mechanics and tanks pulling too much.

Someone needs to look up the definition of ā€œabusiveā€

Itā€™s a matter of what the group thinks. If 3-4 other players think that the tank is too slow (or fast) they can remove them. Although communicating concerns first is usually at least worth attempting. :dracthyr_love_animated:

I love people like you who pretends that they know what theyā€™re talking about when they donā€™t.

I use to be a pally main during TBC and in my old guild both me and my guildies knew how much abuse we could take. Back then i would pull slow, but iā€™ve had my healer tell me to pull more because they were bored of how very little damage i took.

But by your logic tanks always need to kiss the groups a** if you wanna get somewhere.

Thatā€™s not how it works, but you do you.

I appreciate when a tank doesnā€™t pull the entire wing at once because my spec literally doesnā€™t get to play the game during those kind of pulls

Iā€™m sorry you feel this way, Xiuying. Weā€™ll just have to agree to disagree. Good luck.

If this is your definition of ā€œabusiveā€, your opinions are invalid.

Tanks should have a minimum speed they need to maintain otherwise they have their accounts suspended.

I could same about you. You honestly wonā€™t get far with your mentality. But again, you do you.

Saw bullying twice towards tanks in leveling dungeons where I was the healer. Could I hold it together? Sure? Could the tank have pulled larger? Sure? Was it necessary to go at a faster pace than what the tank wanted to in a leveling dungeon? No. In fact, one of the DPS who kept harassing the tank with vile remarks ended up getting kicked. This was a tank who pulled a few packs in each pull - just not ALL the trash up until the boss. People just need to chill out.

The tank doesnā€™t need any help from DPS to survive a big pull. All the DPS does is kill things faster.

So:

  • Let the tank start a pull.
  • Go check your email.
  • Get something from the fridge.
  • Check your texts.
  • Catch up to the tank and healer and kill stuff.
  • Lather, rinse, repeat.

So much this.
