SL Story Hypothosis; Arthas is Anduin's real father

Onyxia was involved from the start, but I agree. They wanted him to be unimpeachable during their full court press to make him the blue Thrall, and imo didn’t really move the needle since there was ambiguity to the situation beforehand and not paying when he had the means and intent to was dumb.

The guy had alot to do, not the least of which is focus on rebuilding other parts of his kingdom/leading his forces against orcs etc. His only culpability is trusting the house of nobles would act with some degree of competence. And maybe they would have, if Onyxia didnt meddle! So no, this was all Onyxia’s faul.

So Varian was just weak and incompetent, got it.

Varian was burdened with issue stemming from his kingdom being destroyed. As for incompetence, no one could have know the black dragons were posing as humans to shatter the Alliance from within. And ultimately, I doubt anyone would fault him for that.

I’m pretty sure there’s a wiki that backs me up on this.

I might find one or make one if you want. Regard, the story is quite clear, Varian is a hero, Vancleef a zero.

If I link the wiki that backs me up, that should be proof enough, yeah?

Coming from you? I wouldn’t trust it. In any case, we have lore that you graciously provided that paint Varian in a favourable light.

It isn’t coming from me, it is coming from a wiki.

I might at least spend the effort of finding/making one.

That doesn’t answer the question.

Since you’re in the habit of blindly trusting wikis, it should be good enough, yeah?

This is boring, Zerde isn’t going to change his mind, lets go back to writing crack theories about Onyxia being down bad for Varian.

I mean she did make a submissive and breedible version of him and kept him around.

O.o nice.

Mine is that she was a anti-monarchist plant who died before she could undermine Stormwind by being the poisoned words in her sons’ ears, or because she abandoned her plan and she was killed in retaliation.

Or maybe the end goal was to tank Stormwind’s credit rating…

Is it really that much of a crack theory when she a) flirted with him like mad and b) literally had his head in her lap while they both lay on a bed together when Lo’Gosh arrived in Stormwind?

Yes, Nefarian (or any other dragon) is the more likely candidate for the father of the whelps just because they’re, well, dragon whelps, but she also made some weird comments to Anduin about the royal bloodline, and she didn’t flirt with everyone she was manipulating.

Is there any stuff you won’t say to defend your favorite alliacne heroes and factions against the orpressed masses of workers and peasants? Read some GOT novels since you aren’t able to grasp why higher ups with unchecked power is a bad thing.

There’s a non zero chance that you’re correct.
I approve.

No?
I mean, yes, but this isn’t a thing yet, so it’s on you for making it up if anything.

I think it should’ve been paladin Arthas standing over Anduin’s other shoulder next to Varian, not Saurfang. THAT would’ve been a fitting sendoff to Arthas as opposed to what we got. Reaffirming Anduin so that he doesn’t suffer the fate that Arthas suffered, and spiting the Jailer in his final act.

To say the Shadowlands writers were incompetent is an understatement, though, and I’d prefer if Blizzard just outright retconned the entire expansion.

Arthas was in complete control the entire time

Saurfang is the one who reminded Anduin that he could be a peacemaker and didn’t have to be Temu Varian though.

I’d have been more than happy to see Mattias/Arthas good shard involved in the plot but theres a reason Saurfang makes sense to be there given Anduin was having to fight through despair in order to do the right thing (because thats what Saurfang had to do an expansion prior)
