It’s inconsistent for me, but a HUGE problem for every day flying between WQs and stuff, especially dragon races. You want to angle down just a little, but it stays flat and you keep inching your mouse down until suddenly you’re going down at a much steeper angle than you want, so you pull back a little and you’re flat again.
There’s been a long-standing (long-sitting? lol) bug for “normal”/steady flight where if you take off at just the right fraction of a second (I suspect linked to latency) after mounting up the game seems to think you’re sitting down (dismount on the ground without moving and you actually end up sitting) and you can’t tilt up/down in flight. I’ve had skyriding keep trying to drift back to level from almost-level a few times on me since patch (and only since the patch) and I’m wondering if this isn’t the same weird little bug in a new skin. An alternate theory, if nothing else.
I knew there was something off! I’ve been using my Archmage’s Prismatic Disc mount ever since we got Skyriding, and it doesn’t have this issue.
Last night I got the Tazavesh Gearglider and swapped to that. That’s when I started feeling the difference. Auto-aim for flying is not needed Blizzard!
This bug has been making me lose my mind.
I was trying to eat while flying long distance and I kept slowing down and realized I was leveling out automatically and had to put my food down. Absolutely infuriating.
Why is this still a thing? I am tired of smacking into bridges instead of flying under them. Is there a way to make it stop short of logging out? /reload didn’t seem to help.
sometimes dismounting and remounting will fix it, other times it won’t. Still haven’t found a completely consistent work around. Honestly it’s super annoying that the issue seems to come and go at random.
Just wanted to chime in and say since early access yesterday I’ve noticed something off with flying and this is exactly it, it’s like the mount fights wanting to tilt down, but super speed tilting up, it’s very annoying, and isn’t making it fun to fly any more.
In early access too, this really needs a way to be turned off as it makes it really awkward for the tiny adjustments to avoid obsticles like trees and I’ve gotten stuck in trees or shot past where I mean to land because there seems to be a snapping. It feels really awkward to the buttery smooth adjusting without that snapping with dragonflight before prepatch. I love having mount options but this is enough of a jarring change that it’s uncomfortably noticable.
I get that it may be helpful to some people without the best fine-motor skills but all there needs to be is just an option to turn off ‘angle snapping’ because really feels off and has been bothering me. I can’t do my smooth level outs because it feels like my mount doesn’t want to tilt very slightly downward or upward anymore and bam, I run into a tree branch or overshoot the edge of a waterfall killing my momentum.
Minor edit: It seems to only turn ‘off’ if I try to descend at an angle MORE than about 30 degrees which is WAY too much. This IS fine-tuned (sort of? ) with keyboard turning (Who the heck using keyboard turning?? for the dynamic flight??) pitch commands set to 1, but I’m so used to right clicking and using my mouse
+1 I am also experiencing this, and it is very annoying. I am out of vigor WAY more now, and I assume this is the issue because I don’t notice it’s too flat to be regenerating.
I really hope that this change is not intentional.
I’m also getting this and it’s really frustrating to deal with. Needs to be changed/fixed
not just skyriding but regular flying too. I’ll be flying at a certain angle and it will snap me back to a more forward one.
Definitely feel like it has something to do with the design of diving in water, where you stay swimming flat on top until you tilt the camera down a certain amount which causes your character to dive. It’s still happening randomly.
This is making me crazy! Has Bliz even acknowledged a problem or is this intended?
I’m so glad I’m not the only one. This is an extremely annoying thing.
+1 to that.
It’s been driving me insane since the beta. If I try to glide on an angle smaller than what seems to be around 30 degrees the mount snaps back to a straight position and I start loosing speed immediately.
I really, really hope this change isn’t intentional, it feels absolutely awful.
yup had this problem on every flying mount, even in flight form. would just find my self flying level and was like “i put you at this angle for a reason”
I have the same issue. Hopefully this will pick up traction and they will start working on a fix because so far I haven’t heard of any information about this.
100% It’s almost like having auto altitude hold turned on in a flight sim except you don’t want it on, this has actually lead to real world aircraft crashes when private pilots did not know how to use a auto pilot system correctly.
What I really liked with the Dragon flying is it has a basic flight model you can control and now part of that control has been taken away from the player with this issue.
