They said we would get this. The character who leveled up today had previously quested in Shadowlands during the pre-patch, got up to 59 today and was booted out of Chromie time, then finished up herbing, mining, and killing mobs in Revendreth.
There is no quest in Oribos. Did this happen? I’d like to choose a covenant.
Also, Shadowlands dungeons have been removed from the dungeon finder.
What level is the issue seen at? It should be like BFA where you unlock more dungeons the higher level you get,
Because you can still level through SL stuff rather than immediately go to the Dragon Isles for a little while, just like you could stay in BFA content instead of going directly into the SL content.
This is the first time they have removed all dungeon finder access to dungeons from the previous expansion.
You did not unlock more dungeons in Shadowlands as you leveled. The leveling dungeons were not scaled, so you moved out of the range of the lower level dungeons as you increased your level. Then, on reaching 60, you had access to all normal and heroic dungeons.
I put a level 55 into Shadowlands Chromie time. Shadowlands dungeons as a category do not appear on that character or on level 60’s.
It was the same with SL and before the level squish/chromie time the same for leveling, you only had a sliver of overlap to do certain dungeons before they were removed from the Finder as you leveled.
My apologies that was supposed to say BFA Chromie Time.
Yes and then there was max level dungeons.
How far have they got into SL’s story? It might be a bug or might be that character hasn’t unlocked them yet.
What was the same? BfA dungeons were not removed from the dungeon finder.
This is not the only thread on this. Those dungeons were in the dungeon finder yesterday. They are not today. If a character was in the right range, they would appear but be locked, with a mouseover message explaining why they couldn’t be queued for.
… we weren’t talking about a level 50. I specifically said there was a small overlap with leveling where you could do dungeons from both expansions. For Sl the moment you hit 51 you couldn’t do BFA dungeons anymore.
You said that the dungeons were always removed from the dungeon finder at the end of an expansion. Utterly false.
You have no idea what we are talking about. I did not get shadowlands until this August. Lots of level 50’s did not level because they had not purchased Shadowlands. BfA dungeons were absolutely not removed from the dungeon finder when Shadowlands was implemented.
The idea that everyone who hit 50 was on an account that had purchased Shadowlands, just LOL.
THEY WERE. The moment you hit the level after the level range you couldn’t queue for them anymore.
The moment you hit 51 they were.
Okay 1) this is different argument than what you started and 2) you withholding information, of course your level capped 50 who didn’t have the new expansion couldn’t do the new content.
Okay. Doing some chronicling here as I go because I’m awake with nothing better to do.
Level 50 paladin - no chosen Chromie time, she’s been sitting idle since the end of BFA.
Level 50 Chronicle Cut for Images and Play by Play
Going into A Chilling Summons about 1/3 of a level into 50 (don’t even know how I managed that.) Ilevel sitting at a sad 78.
Level 51, a few quests into the Maw intro. Still BFA quests.
I got as far as getting the crew safely down into the cave and finally accepted the Maw skip from Jaina. No changes, still only BFA normal dungeons are available.
Dinged 52 in the running around intro to Oribos. Still no change in dungeons.
Met up with Kleia in Bastion. Still no changes.
Hearthed back to Stormwind and switched Chromie Time to Shadowlands.
Dungeon list now totally blank.
Bought new gear, jumping ilevel from 78 to 119. Still nada.
Swapped over to my freshest level 60 who has never touched SL at all, having leveled her up through the invasions. Her? She right now only has BFA dungeons. Going to see whats up for the skips.
Level 60 Cut for Images and Play by Play
I skipped all the intro stuff, since the portal wasn’t working without the initial work. Upon zoning into Oriobos for the first time, I’ve got the same opener as I used to get, being offered the Threads of Fate to skip through all the lead up.
Noting here again, still only BFA normal dungeons available.
Skip through everything so that ZM is open to me (along with all that came before it), just have to run out to do the “Welcome to the Venthyr” schtick.
Going through the handful of quests leading into Venthyr Covenant. No changes to dungeons.
This is how it is supposed to work. Shadowlands is now a part of Chromie Time, so until a lower-than-level 60 character selects Shadowlands from Chromie Time, they will be defaulted into BFA content.
If you were 50-60 when DF launched, and had already selected Threads of Fate, you can continue leveling that way. But ToF is not able to be selected anymore. You have to use the Shadowlands storyline, which doesn’t unlock dungeons until you meet certain criteria in the storyline, as well as an item level requirement.
Haven’t met the storyline or level requirements? You won’t see the dungeons in Dungeon Finder. You can always join or create a premade group though. Met every requirement except item level? You’ll see the dungeon with a lock.
If you are seeing something different, then you’ll want to post in the Bug Report Forum. But all this sounds like it’s what is supposed to happen.
This is correct, because BfA was chosen as the default expansion for leveling. This is the first “current” expansion to pass and get pushed in Chromie Time.
If you want to queue for SL dungeons, you have to select Shadowlands in Chromie Time until you hit 60.
That’s the issue it seems. Those dungeons aren’t available, even in Chromie time. I have no intention of leveling there, I was just blindly poking at things with a few characters to test what I was reading to be the issue above. I was trying to see if it would change over to have SL as the default expansion like BFA had been. These characters were both fresh, had not started the quests into SL at all, so threads had not been chosen for them at all.
People were saying they couldn’t access the skips at level 60, it was treating them like they would still have to go through and do all of that old content to get to choose their covenant and such. The 60 had leveled entirely on invasions, never touched the Chilling Summons until I went and tried to get the portal unlock and my covenant.
So the lack of dungeons even in Chromie time, yes. That did prove to be buggy. The rest, acted like it should have for my 60 at least.
Because SL dungeons aren’t available in Dungeon Finder (sucks that Dragonflight and Dungeon Finder have the same abbreviation!) until you have progressed through the storyline.
Should that be changed? Probably. But it hasn’t, so it’s working properly as of right now.
All i have access up to is shadowlands. Never bought dragonfail. Removing the dungeons from the finder screws me and other’s over. Guess i should just log out and play something else.
Some of you are not getting it. I dont have Dragonflight . i have several level 60 that where able to do dungeons in Sl, but since Dragonflight launched Sl dungeons are not in the dungeon finder. Every other time we got a new expansion someone with out the new expansion at the old max level could still regular and heroics of the last expansion. What we would like to know is this intended or is this a bug. Since i can queue for Chromie time Battle for Azeroth dungeon when not in Chromie time, I think it is a bug. Any blue care to comment?
