Siren Isle isn't remotely as bad as some posts on the GD suggested

Going off what I was reading here when the update first went live, I was hearing it was the size of a BfA island expedition with two alternating rares.

That’s just… flat out not true. The island is far more spacious than you would expect, and there are multiple rares that spawn around the island. It’s really not that bad, and actually fantastic for those of us that are casual and/or altaholics.

Yeah, I know, for those already in high end gear the ring is probably the only thing worth sticking around for.

Still not remotely as bad as I was hearing.

No it is pretty much the exact size of an island expedition. It is less than 1000mx1000m It feels bigger because they added some underground parts, the extra zoning area, and a way to move vertical. But the actual map size is tiny.

Sorry but someone already made a thread about this being the worst thing Blizzard has ever done. So now we get to look back and say the SELFIE patch and Shadowlands were actually the ones not that bad.

It’s…pretty small. I like the cosmetics, even if there doesn’t seem to be many good sources of the currency.

I liked Shadowlands. :dracthyr_sweat:

-Timegated gems
-Timegated ring upgrades
-Timegated flying

But sure personally I think the theme and goblins were fine, the size of the island is also not an issue to me. But damn.

I think that there are plenty of fair criticisms and plenty that are greatly exaggerated. It’s all subjective though.

The worst part imo.

“Here’s this new ring! Don’t equip it cause it stinks right now but you know, here it is!”

wait till the volcano explodes and everyone is at the GY at the same time and lag happens. then let’s see what you think.

I’ve yet to see any of the rares drop anything unique.

I was totally fine with a normal 639 ring being better than the isle ring to be fair, but buffing it and then having already so much timegating… It just seems like one of those times where it’s better to simply wait.

I don’t trust most GD forum poster’s opinions…

big part of the hate is due to the ring not being anything close to being the item the devs were bragging up.

A normal 619 ring is better, and reports even have it as feeble as a 575 normal ring. Kind of hard to defend the devs with those facts.

What if you have 25 players procing each other’s rings?

I paced it out and mounted it takes less than 30 seconds to run from the corner to the middle. So the whole thing is less than a minute across edge-to-edge. This is considerably smaller than an average sized WoW city. Running from the hammer statue at the Dorn PvP area southeast down the road to the signpost takes more time than running halfway across Siren “Isle”. It isn’t the size of any normal WoW island, it’s the size of a smallish city. Movement from one place to another feels restricted and makes the island seem even smaller… claustrophobic. I mean it’s better than nothing it just isn’t great.

And for a 642 item level ring it couldn’t really be much more underwhelming than it is. How can they have an epic gem that adds less than 1900 secondary stat… on a 642 item level ring? With procs of questionable benefit. Needs a lot of testing but the first impression is not good.

It’s an odd decision to timegate the ring and make it suck for the first week.

Shouldn’t it be enticing to use at first?

Yes

Just saying I spent more time in Forbidden Reach than I will definitely be spending on SR.

In fact, I spent more time afk there eating dinner than I actually spent there doing the pitiful daily. FR also at least had the cool (in concept) weekly tower to blast through.

Few things are as bad as suggested on the forums. This place has more hyperbole per capita than any place on Earth.

I realized today my “dailies” on the isle didn’t reset, so I guess they’re weeklies. Truly useless to me now until I can upgrade and gem the ring lol. It wont be worth using for at least a few weeks from what I hear
