Since It's Sunday

Is strawberry taboo? Is it a dead flavor that no restaurant wants to carry?
I went to try to go for a strawberry shake last night a McDonald’s and they don’t have strawberry. Did the same for Burger King and nada as well. Do I need to go to a more upscale restaurant or is strawberry going out of style?

Might not have been very popular so they phased it out. Fast food is generally franchised though so some locations might still have it.

My guess is because the fake strawberry flavor is fairly nasty, so folks avoided it.

Vanilla and chocolate are far more popular, so they go with what sells.

I have no trouble getting strawberry shakes at Dairy Queen. And they use real strawberries because you get chunks in your shake.

Steak n Shake does strawberry and they’re real milk & ice cream shakes, not soft serve slop.

It’s only the beginning of the season up here in the north. We won’t be seeing any strawberries for a couple months.

It might have to do with phasing out certain red dyes.
“Requesting food companies to remove FD&C Red No. 3 sooner than the 2027-2028 deadline previously required.”

Just a guess.

Sundays may not be as ‘safe’ as ‘you’ think anymore. Won’t be immediate resolutions, but I don’t think asking questions about strawberries is likely to be a concern.

Less about strawberries, and more to specific folks who once enjoyed making the forums a wee bit volatile via their assumption of sunday immunity.

The moderation has changed in the last year or so (maybe a bit longer?), compared to what it used to be, when the sunday reputation picked up. Not sure I appreciate the reason why. Microsoft caused some staff loss, assuming I caught what happened and why. And the folks who are now covering things… I think they lost co-workers that they’d have rather not. And I’m sorry they did, for what it’s worth.

But, I don’t think things are as safe for certain folks here as they want it to be.

Now I feel like I’m lucky if I can find a flavor other than vanilla if I’m getting ice cream or a milk shake at a fast food restaurant.

Fast food places use the same mix for ice cream and shakes, you your basically eating like a pound of ice cream lol

Cuz strawberry sucks

It’s probably because most food service “Strawberry” flavor tastes more like a Frankenberry chemical cocktail.

Could be worse. Pineapple could be mentioned.

then… oh crikey, things get real.
