make the shields last way shorter so that mashing barrier on recharge isn’t the optimal play. i suggest 5-10 seconds, as this will also make rogue/mage mortal in 2s
this is also a pretty big affliction buff so yw for posting it anyway and u can thank me by getting off the pillar
(also ring of frost shouldnt be 8 seconds long, so that db>ring>get-kicked>poly has the counterplay of letting ring go thru for lesser effect)
I’ve found that Triune ward actually isn’t really a huge factor nowadays, now that damage has outpaced the scaling on the shield. I think there could be other reasons that you think RM is immortal. What comp do you usually play that struggles against them?
Okay what if we disguise it as rp and mirror images actually mirrors the offensive spells you cast. As it is I don’t think I’ve seen a fire mage cast frost bolt all season even though I think they added it back.
i’ve seen some orangemarmalade fans cast frostbolt when they forget they just forced me to slow myself with heroic throw in an attempt to delay their getting behind a pillar and eating
if it was actually made to be 5 seconds as i suggested, then making it unpurgeable would be a fine trade-off imo. 3 purges with current haste takes about that long anyway in the best case scenario where you get no other buffs, and mages can only klepto each other off-combust once safely & twice risky
It should be mentioned that the legendary isn’t the only absurd thing they have. There’s cauterize, the -15% crit taken PvP talent or healing ice block.
It’s an automatic cheat death which both heals you for a high amount and lets you zoom away at sonic speed, effectively resetting the fight. The pinnacle of idiotic design.
This just says how spoiled fire mage is when a talent like this would be an automatic pick for almost all other classes and specs.
Could be a good idea… 5s would probably be too short though; 10s sounds like a decent idea, though.
Mirror images should simply spam the basic ability of whatever spec the mage is playing… Frostbolt for frost mages, Fireball for fire mages, Arcane Blast or Missiles(?) for Arcane Mages.
Definitely not a fan of your alternative solution. Much prefer OP’s solution.
Honestly, this might be the best fix I’ve heard proposed for DB… That ability has gone under the radar with how OP it is for FAR too long… It rivals the insanity of current Intervene, yet almost nobody talks about it.
Another decent alternative might be to just have the DB disorient last 2-2.5-3 seconds instead of 4.
Idk if ‘absurd’ is a good word to describe it, but it’s definitely an unnecessary crutch for misplays.
Cauterize in and of itself isn’t problematic. It’s simply problematic how many outs the mage has between alter, block, cauterize, etc. in comparison to anything you’d trade mage for. This is the same number of hard outs that the class/spec has had since well before WoD, when most of the other specs have lost some.
