Simple approach to F R E S H

Take all classic Era servers and load balance them into good population sizes.

Add a 2-3 FRESH classic realms and FRESH TBC realms at launch

Congrats Blizzard, you just gave everyone what they wanted at nearly no extra cost.

When WotlK comes out you do it all again, continually merging dead Era servers and providing FRESH. Eventually you’ll have fresh MoP, fresh legion etc.

except the whole reason people asked so much for classic at all is because of server communities being better in classic than retail. so you’d just trash that experience for everyone while improving things for yourself.

What would be a trash experience for you?

the money from the 58 boosts will largely come from the fresh tbc community that are not getting their fresh realms
if they did logical stuff, how could the money move from our bank accounts to theirs? :upside_down_face:

Fresh “rolling progression” servers, similar to what EQ does for progression servers, would be a game-changer for WoW and WoW subs. I think your idea is a great idea, and I think that if Blizzard thought about the amount of long-term profit they could gain from this, they would do it too.

this is what they said in the Q&A

Will there be fresh Classic servers in addition to TBC?

  • We won’t be launching any fresh start servers.
  • We’re got our eyes on that and discussing that after launch of TBC.

You still didn’t answer my question. Why would fresh servers create a trash experience for you?

i wasn’t responding to you. and i won’t after this. i’ve tried to be constructive but a few people, yourself included, just want to insult. and i don’t have to deal with it if i don’t want to. my initial response was 9 hours ago. a lot has happened since then.

the no FRESH community needs to be vocal because they have a ton of gold and time invested into their classic characters.

im assuming its mostly just them being worried that if they release FRESH servers, the population on their servers will decay further than they already have.

Although, thats not fair to the FRESH community, the people that do not want to deal with the horrible economies on every classic server.
Orrrrrr, the people wanting faction swap. Now they have to start on an existing server with nothing because they dont want to delete/transfer their classic character that they have sunk a lot of time into and cannot have horde/alli on the same server.

there is no logical argument to not have a few fresh realms except than that means less level 58 boosts and character copies sold.

You won’t get anywhere with that guy. He’s got a level 25 shaman that he plans on playing in “Classic Era forever” servers and he’s somehow got the idea that any fresh servers would break his AH plan for the game. Not realizing that if he just rerolled on a fresh server he’d have even more fun in an actual live economy. Yet he’ll continue to think that I’m insulting him while he reads this. Meanwhile he doesn’t realize he’s talking to max level High Warlords and such, people who put in WAY more time into classic and are STILL asking for Fresh to do it over again.

There is no logical argument to be against fresh servers if you actually enjoy playing the game.

If private servers are any indication everybody flocks to the new servers because of FRESH mentality and the existing servers become ghost towns.

IF everyone abandons their server to play fresh then its clear that fresh is the real appeal to classic after all. You can’t control how others choose to play by restricting the game.

Or you could just reroll onto one of the dead realms & get the same experience.

On private servers, sure. That’s because they release a new server every few months. Just pick a sane timeline like 18 months to release a new FRESH so people won’t have anywhere to go if they abandon before progression is done.

You can’t get the same experience if the patch is stuck in perma- Phase 6. Fresh servers means starting over from MC.

This won’t work. Those servers are already progressed and already have level 60s in T3 running around. Economies are not as dead as you think and stockpiled gold exists. Mage boosts exist.

Not remotely the same experience.

They also want to be really careful about it because if it does end up causing ghost towns then it’s not like they can just delete the new servers and make everybody go back.

Right now I imagine the focus is getting TBC out and seeing what that does to server populations.

They can easily merge the servers that are lacking in population. This is a win-win scenario both for the servers that were dead and progressed and the freshers
