I mean I’m one of the Real High Elf races, I don’t mess with that stuff. I don’t even drink
I knew yesterday that you will say this eventually. Yes, some slav…oh “workers” are indeed out there in their faction.
Blood elf, high elves are in alliance only, yet not playable.
I mean… Ogres have been part of the horde since at least warcraft 2 but unplayable in WoW. So…
The Silver Covenant obviously leans Alliance, but technically they’re part of Dalaran.
There’s also Captain Thalo’thas Brightsun, a high elf pirate with a grudge against the Alliance navy who offers quests to Horde players.
One thing to note, if they really wanted to, they could do this no issue. Whether or not if it is Lore abiding.
They’ve retconned tons of stuff in the lore to make way for whatever new thing they want to include in their expansions.
Its all simply a matter of they just don’t want to and I don’t get why.
With void elves already existing, it’s much easier for them to just give high elf styled options to void elves instead of making a new race.
As for why they did void elves initially, their stated their reason was that Alleria’s plot was internally popular with the dev team. They had also stated they wanted the factions to remain visually distinct during BfA, and turning the elves blue was likely easier for them than editing their model. I mean, look how Nightborne turned out.
Yeah, I do understand they liked the idea, otherwise it would never have been done. Also aware of people’s theroies (and my own) that it was partially done to try pinning the nail on this debate.
Didnt work. I am well aware they wont do it but its yet again another poor choice they decided to be so stubborn to stick to their guns on when they really didnt have to. Of course, these are also the same people who said they would never do classic WoW. Look how that turned out.
They have a talented Art team, it could have easily been done and it would not have harmed anything. The extra options for Void Elves to at least look like them was… Nice. I guess. It was something but still a letdown since you cant have a lot of hairstyles that dont have the tentacles on it.
Just feels like a ‘Shooting yourself in the foot’ type thing. But then again a lot of that has been going on.
Things like a tentacle toggle, new hair colours, and maybe some new hair styles could fix this. A whole new race slot isn’t needed. Sadly, none of that will happen until at least Shadowlands is over, but a lot of races made out much worse off than void elves did all things considered.
Yeah. It doesn’t seem like something they thought through too well.
Tentacle toggles would be nice but uh… Apparently they’re not even going to give us any new customization options either…
… That was lovely to hear.
Not for the duration of Shadowlands anyway.
Yeah… not a smart move on their part imo. Customization was one of the big selling points of this xpac.
They called themselves “done” and in fact “ahead of schedule” when they couldn’t even be bothered to port the ear toggle to void elves or the tail toggle to Lightforged Draenei. It’s a joke.
they are ready to be playable, nothing new to make. Just seriously Silver covenant is 1 scenario away from playable faction.
If you mean taking them exactly as they are from the NPCs, that would just be void elves with blood elf hair, different racials, and different voice lines.
That would be less of a difference than Lighforged Draenei to Draenei or Highmountain Tauren to Tauren.
If they were to add them, I’d assume they’d give them a new or edited model to differentiate them, but I don’t expect that to happen.
They’d likely just add anything like that to Void Elves.
I doubt they’ll ever get optional racials or voice lines though.
Blizzard was pretty clear when they said they provided what we have for RP and didn’t add any lore or story to explain it.
Void Elves are technically High Elves if we want to go off of what the story and Ion himself has mentioned in an interview. All they have to do is give them more hair options from Blood Elves, which isn’t that difficult. Being infused with Void doesn’t change your ability to style/color your hair, and we already know it doesn’t permanently alter their skin color as shown with Alleria and the somewhat recently added skin tones.
Wow has generally done hair colors by race and culture though.
So claiming that they’d be willing to do it just because dying ones hair is a possible thing doesn’t really work.
Alleria meanwhile is a unique individual and there is no lore to back up the skin tones that were added.
As per Blizzard they added those options purely for RP reasons.
Yeah, but Shadowlands added a bunch of hair colours to races that were outside of their previous palettes, like brown to night elves for example.
To be fair, the racial leader being distinguished by looking more generic is just stupid though (imo anyway).
Blizzard never specifically stated they were for RP reasons. They described them as “high elf options”, but never stated they were non-canon.
Well yes they are, Blizzard even says so. Multiple times. So I’m ruling this thread along with you, as either a troll or someone without knowledge to comprehend such matters of these subjects.
You’re wrong, again - but the level of how wrong, strongly reflects you.
There can be multiple aspects of a words origins. But in English (The language we’re using in this thread) with the word ‘History’ the two strongest developments came from the language evolved from Greek, and Latin.
You suggested I ‘google it’ so I took the liberty of checking if the info I provided above was on google - and it is! In fact if you look at ‘History word origins’ in google; most of it discusses the elements of it deriving from Greek and Latin. Much of it also discusses how its definition means the study of the past, despite your objection.
I tried searching for the thing you suggested, but when I finally found something of some mild context, it in fact wasn’t anything to do with the definition of the word ‘History’ itself nor the origins of such. In fact, the language Jewish people generally spoke was Hebrew and there’s no word for ‘history’ in Hebrew, the closest word to fit would be ‘remember’, unless they developed one in very recent times - but that would also suggest that origins of the word ‘History’ definitely wouldn’t have come from it.
For Middle English (also as a verb) the word History derived via Latin from Greek historia ‘finding out, narrative, history’, from histōr ‘learned, wise man’, from an Indo-European root shared by wit.
Even if you look at Oxford Universities definition for the word ‘History’ it’s: “The study of past events, especially as a subject at school or university”
There’s a plethora of sources that factually say history literally does have to do with the past. So you’re wrong again by dictionary, google, chronicle & historic (Ironically) terms.
You’re just making stuff up without knowing either the stories, research or study; or come up with some ludicrous mild reference or lie that one would have to stretch out, to fit your own narrative.
Honestly I’m feeling a lot like Paul Rudd from this scene
I mean with the blue eyes added there’s quite a few of them now.
Yeah, but I was referencing the ones who are specifically referred to by the title, and have the night elf click on quotes.
I wouldn’t be using their voice-lines as a sign of canon since it’s not itself a canon thing that high elves and only high elves have voices the exact tone and timbre of night elf voices.
