Silenced Players Can’t Apply to Groups?

Are you taking the position that verbally berating someone is a good thing that shouldn’t be discouraged?

How about I just continue what I’m doing and report bigots… and you shut up.

I don’t tolerate sexism/sexual harassment, transphobia or homophobia. It has no place in civilized society. Period. Who I spend my time around is irrelevant. I’ll continue to report because it’s the right thing to do, because in all honesty the people saying this type of stuff should know better, and they’re not going to learn if there are no consequences.

I’m taking the position that you need to man up.

that’s a squelch.

it’s not a silence.

they’re not the same things.

LOL, Champion of tolerance there. You do know tolerance isn’t just tolerating beliefs you agree with?

Could just ignore people that say things you don’t like instead of asking for a manager and trying to get them blacklisted.

It was wrong to exclude communist and gays for who they were and what they said and believed. Just as wrong to exclude “bigots” for their beliefs.

Really baffled by societies head long rush remake the world as a corporate workplace instead of a fun corner bar.

Live and let live.

If everyone has the power to silence what they disagree with, no one will have the right to speak.

Well if it takes a couple days or a week for them to get around to reviewing a report, I don’t get where the “1-2 seconds” thing fits in. That doesn’t make any sense.

Regardless, it doesn’t really matter whether we agree or disagree. Blizz have made their rules clear for years. They don’t have to tolerate things they don’t want said on their platform.

blizzard correct the conspiracy theorists in the CS forum on a regular basis.
it doesn’t mean any of them are going to listen.

…but feel free to give us some of your “proof”.
(without linking that moronic Asmongold video) :joy:

I am not going to tolerate sexism/sexual harassment, transphobia or homophobia.

You should really study your history, specifically the works of Plato and Karl Popper who both talked about the paradox of tolerance, stating that a society that is tolerant without limit eventually has it’s ability to be tolerant seized and destroyed by the intolerant.

We’ve seen this in practice with the Germans in the 1930s. People at the time tolerated Adolf Hitler’s political party (I can’t use the name of it here because of the forum rules). They allowed the language and behaviour of his party to spread. What was the result? One of the most horrific holocausts in the known world and one of the most devastating world wars. Not to mention an extreme intolerance of the Jewish people.

But if you want more recent examples, look at America in general. That nations tolerance of destructive views of white supremacy led to the creation of over 880 hate groups or organizations, most of which are still around today. America has had more hate groups than any other nation on earth. Compare that to countries that clamp down on that type of speech, and while these groups still exist to a limited degree, you rarely, if ever, see them marching on the street or preaching their views openly because the authorities and lawmakers of those countries do not tolerate them.

If I could stamp out all sexism/sexual harassment, transphobia and homophobia I absolutely would, without a second thought, and we’d all be better off for it and there’s nothing you can say to convince me otherwise.

They flagged your post… you can get ban just because they mass flag you and a mod agrees subjectively with them

This doesn’t seem abuseable at all.

How do you sexually harass someone in a game? Are you playing with coworkers? Doesn’t that require one party to be in a position of power over the other?

If that’s sexual harassment is wining a PvP duel murder?

May you never have true power. It would be a blood bath.

It can be abusable just like everything is abusable. Silences, however, were already a topic people rarely discussed anyway because most of the time people that got punished were punished correctly.

I’m sure anyone in support of this system does understand that measures to greater protect against false positives from malicious players need to be taken. Also, these malicious false reporters need to have severe punishments to discourage doing this type of thing if caught.

To not seek change on the basis of abuse is asinine, because all the systems you see IRL were made with the full knowledge of potential of abuse but certain counter measures were put in place to keep it as limited as possible.

How do people sexually harass someone anywhere? It’s made possible by a magical method called ‘communication’, which all interactions with people, in person or virtual, rely on. Have you confused harassment with assault?

I think they have.

LOL I know right - people will think you’re weird if you say “Hi - how’s everybody doing today”. It’s “TY all” at the end of the run and then poof out the door.

too many people get butt-hurt no matter what you say.

I didn’t realise this was new, I thought this had been around for a long time now.

That’s a squelch. A temporary limit on your chat abilities until a GM can review your chatlogs and see if an actual silence penalty is warranted.

A squelch isn’t a silence. It’s putting you on pause while they get to you in line.
