Silenced Players Can’t Apply to Groups?

It’s 5 people only, not more or less. It’s been verified before with people reporting each other to see the limits.

He’s not worried about being legitimately silenced, most people aren’t. The concern here is people actively trolling others with false reports.

This may actively constitute a breach of service on Blizzards part.

I knew it was in that range but didn’t remember the exact numbers. You have to be careful on these forums as the trolls love to point out you said 6 and it was actually 5! All your points are invalid forever!!!

The poster I described was worried that a salty person in a dungeon would falsely report people. That was what I was replying to.

You didn’t reply to a specific person. You generically replied to a 308 post thread.

Right. So all the complaints might be much ado about nothing.

Incorrect, I replied to Akadruid. When a reply is sequentially the next post in a thread, it doesn’t have the link in the top right. I was replying to Akadruid’s post which is immediately before the one you quoted.

Not right. Silences are automatically applied, you can be removed from a BG on the spot. Blizzard does not review them AT ALL unless you contest it and that can take 24-72 hours.

That’s not true at all, there is a REASON there is a specific reply for each person. It notifies them you responded to X post with Y reply. It also shows everyone else who you’re replying to. The majority of generic replies are replying to the OP.

And besides that, he said this TYPE of player. Meaning everyone who’s like that. He never even implied he thinks ONE report will do that. If you keep reading he posted a link where he’s talking about 5 specifically as that’s the minimum threshold.

Well then don’t mouth off I guess.

As an example for how the reply feature works, I am replying to the post above this one.

Edit, well i tried to reply to Leaflight, Erthan got in there before me.

No you’re not, you replied to me. We can see it on the post. That’s how the reply feature works.

I just replied to you and it doesn’t show it. Lovelight is correct.

It won’t show YOU who you replied to, but it does show everyone else.

Another poster got their reply in first, so my “test” reply to you wasn’t the next one in the sequence. Perdd was able to reply to you as the next post, and you should have gotten a notification about the reply.

No, you don’t. That’s not how it works. I did not get a notification.

It shows it when there is one or more posts between your post and his response to your post.

If there is no post between them, there’s no link.

It’s a stupid change Blizzard made a while back.

edit: See? Link to your name in the top corner.

I just got a notification from this reply you made, and it was sequentially next after mine.

Yes, because you clicked reply on MY post

Without that, no notification. ‘https://imgur.com/WyIpN9x

Notice who’s missing here.

The reason why groups of friends/guildies won’t be affected is pretty obvious.

For example, let’s take a hypothetical pug group formed thru LFG…

  1. friend/guildie
  2. friend/guildie
  3. friend/guildie
  4. random pug
  5. whiny GD’er

In this case, the whiny GD’er player (member #5) simply doesn’t have enough “votes” to false flag someone into a silence.

And he may or may not be able to convince member #4 to go along with his plan. Even if he did, 3 votes is still > 2 votes and a group of friends/guildies is not going to turn on one of their own.

This proposed change will mostly hurt the solo players with regards to false/bogus reports.

Ironically, it will probably end up backfiring on GD’ers since they tend to be solo/casual players and don’t like to get on Disc :joy:

I don’t mind getting on Disc or 3rd party comms myself. Usually I don’t need to, but if I have to (say, for a pug raid) it’s whatever.

You’re incorrect, but we should try to get this back on topic.

I don’t feel like arguing with someone who I know is wrong. I apologize if that’s harsh, but it’s true.

Have a good day.
