Silenced Players Can’t Apply to Groups?

A blue check mark who virtue signals everything. I avoid the twittersphere just because I value my sanity.

Please, make the silence/ban account wide too.

I personally love Twitter but I’m very heavily involved with the WoW Twitter and D&D Twitter so I’m not sure what the rest of it is like.

I am happy for you. I guess I’m just older and don’t put much value in those apps.

They’re not for everyone.

Hmm… My only issue is “silence” doesn’t require any review by GMs. If the masses don’t like you or what you say, they can restrict your ability to play the game?

That sounds like a problem just waiting to happen.

Remember the Alliance AV groups in Classic wow that mass reported the raid lead if he didn’t pass it to them? The guy would get silenced and then dropped from the BG.

it’s already been explained multiple times in this thread.

if you haven’t broken any rules, a GM will just remove the squelch.

no need to contest it, because there’s nothing to contest.

but yes, they will only REVIEW it if you contest the silence, which was already applied by a human.

squelch gets reviewed by human.
human applies silence, or removes squelch.

silence gets reviewed (as in, looked at by a second set of eyes) on request.

and i call BS, as mine didnt get reviewed unless i contested it. i know others who have gotten a squelch, and it never got reviewed. unless Blizz doesnt let you know they reviewed it or not, cuz i never got anything saying they did unless i contested it.

Blizz also said when they announced this system would not be automated in any way, but yet, here we are. so between that and my own personal experiences, i have very little trust in the Blizz CS Department. They might tell people its reviewed like that, but that doesnt mean its true.

also, this contradicts what you just said…

umm… pretty sure i just said that?

because unless you request a review, there’s nothing to review.

maybe there’s a terminology issue here.

review means to take a second look… which only happens on request.

the silence system is not automated.
the squelch system is, and has been around much longer than the silence system.

The reason why people discuss this in GD instead of in the customer support forum is because in the customer support forum the moderator will look up their history and see what they did, then post that they earned their suspension with entertaining suggestions about what actually happened.

and im saying, they never reviewed my squelch, unless i contested it. other people i know and trust have said the same thing. maybe they do SOME of them, but for the most part, they wont review it unless you contest it, and from there they either remove it, or uphold it.

and the squelch was around of sorts, but it never kept you from joining groups and messaging friends, like the current system does that came with the silence system. ive had friends in the past who got squelched and had no problem talking in groups and whispers, but just couldnt use the public channels. it also didnt kick you out of the game instantly and apply the squelch, it was usually the next day when the person logged in.

i would totally say what i said to get mine, but then i would just get silenced here again too. and the funny thing with mine, it was rather tame, but people didnt like that me and others were talking in /2, when i contested it, they threw in something i said like 4 days before to a known guild scammer and someone whose really toxic, when i told him what i really think of him.

but people can keep repeating what Blizz is trying to put out there, but youll never convince me as im going on what ive seen personally and what others i know and trust have told me.

As it was said, that is how it works, they are not gonna review it on their own, you got to ask for it.

thats not what nobully said. he said they review all squelches and they become silences, or removed. and i said no they wont review it unless you contest it. so you are agreeing with me.

Why would you review a squelch? Before they get around to reviewing it it will expire anyway.

well, yeah,

That’s how the system works, there isn’t an automatic review process. You got to request it. I don’t see where Nobully said otherwise.

ask Nobully… hes the one saying they review them on their own. and if they dont review a squelch, then the system is automated.

I dunno, from what I seen, if you got reported enough to get the squelch, puts you on the high priority list for a review (if requested). Most of the time it doesn’t take more than a few hours, otherwise it just falls off. NOW, that being said, if you get an email saying you are being silenced for X amount of time, that mean someone DID look at it and agreed with the reports.

all ive ever gotten, and people i know who have gotten squelched in recent years, all they got were the initial automated email that got sent right when they were kicked out of game, and replies from tickets and automated emails saying it had expired. so unless they were watching the chat at that moment (and lets be honest, i dont think they have people for that anymore), there was no way it was reviewed that fast.

anyway, i gotta be up early tomorrow. g’night and have fun.

Exactly. These aren’t reviewed automatically by GMs, so abusers can lock you out of game content.
