You’re actually completely allowed to do that most of the time. They won’t tell you to leave, haven’t you ever seen people do this?
It depends on the establishment really, but most of them aren’t going to tolerate someone being that blatantly beligerent.
I’m willing to bet that this isn’t actually true. You’ll either be asked to leave or have the cops called on you if you are being exceptionally disruptive. I mean, disturbing the peace is a thing, it’s something you can be arrested for.
I have seen restaurants call the cops on patrons when they get belligerent with the staff. Most of the time they are escorted from the premises. I have thrown out clients for getting nasty with me and my staff.
No you can casually cuss people out and they won’t do anything.
I do find that some posts are flagged for nothing, well they are flagged by people who don’t want to hear anything negative about the game.
I mean if someone is pissed at the state of the game/devs and wants to speak to it that should not be flagged. However how they do it is a whole other story.
If they speak their mind respectfully meaning they are not cursing and calling people nasty names so on so forth, people should just let it be.
Oh yeah, I think I’ve flagged all of…four or five posts since the new forums. And those are the REALLY bad ones. Like…the ones that get deleted very quickly because the OP is showing themselves to be scum of the earth and telling people to do horrible things to themselves or to Blizzard for a perceived slight, that type of trash.
I do believe our culture has become too sensitive, but it definitely wasn’t better when people just bullied others because they are anonymous online and there were no consequences to being awful individuals. So whenever someone says “less safe spaces”, yep, I think of the mean things people say when chat channels aren’t regulated.
The issue comes down to if they can conduct themselves in an appropriate manner or are they going to spit all over themselves and foam at the mouth while telling people at Blizzard to be hurt for the decisions they make. That’s when flagging is appropriate.
If people can form rational thoughts and sentences to enunciate why they dislike the game, go for it. I’ve ranted and railed against a lot of decisions in this expansion, but I’ve ensured I keep myself calm and collected while I do it. As emotional as I can rant in real life, we are guests in these forums. People have every right to wish someone to be removed if they’re causing issues or making a scene.
Of course, there are a lot of people who will flag for no reason. So in that regard, I do think people should be punished if they’re flagging falsely or because of a difference of opinion.
I am a pretty sensitive person, but that’s just a personal thing. I’m not one of those calling to make public places into “safe spaces”. To me, those are what we create for ourselves in private. The people we associate with, the groups we choose to be a part of, etc. My home is my safe space, my guild is my safe space. I feel like we’re entitled to that much.
But that said I do think these forums would generally be a lot better with an ignore feature. There are just some folks here that aren’t interested in actual discussion, and I am not interested in acknowledging their presence.
Agreed with this. There are a few posters that come to mind that I’ve attempted to speak with and they don’t want that type of conversation, they want a spitting match. And I cannot be bothered with something like that.
I don’t know about flagging …
I Had a post removed yesterday.
Not a word as to what post was removed or why , which is problematical , because I happened to have posted quite a bit the past three days.
So , even though it was my post , I have no idea what post it was.
… Then , it seems to me , a thread about who would you romantically pair with who , even if both are third parties , is BOUND to lead in certain directions.
A thread about sexy Mortis is BOUND to lead in certain directions.
And a thread , generally , about what makes people uncomfortable enough to go after others is BOUND to lead to a broaching of WHAT it is that makes people uncomfortable.
So the mystery for me deepens.
I didn’t get banned or otherwise penalized , ( And thanks for that powers - that - be. This forum aside , I adore the game. ) so I’m loathe to ask , as a query could , somehow , be interpreted as some sort of complaint.
I’m not complaining , sort of .
it’s worrisome though. It might be kinda nice to know what I might as well not write anyway ?
AKA let me say what I want with no consequences. Not exactly surprising coming from someone who constantly posts about feminists forcing their way into the game lol
Actually instead of silencing I think a forum ban is more appropriate for people who go out of their way to flag. No timed ban, just a straight up permanent forum ban.
If you’re going to call for that, the same condition should apply to those genuinely breaking the rules.
Yes, ban them too. If someone wants to act in such a disruptive manner they should be banned. A silence is too lenient.
I’m glad you understand.
The rules ? Well , all well and good —
— like TOS , does anyone actually read them ? They are literally written by lawyers , who , I strongly suspect , only read them because they are being paid 500 - dollars - an - hour to read them.
And I suppose we will ignore that the rules don’t really specifically cover a whole lot of ground , like the fact that Blizzard itself occasionally plays fast and loose with whatever , " T for Teens " means??
much of the community is so childish they had to take away down votes
now instead of down voteing they just flag i don’t think blizzard knows how to deal with these children
it’s a symptom of being madcuzbad.
this will happen automatically if you quote the entire post above.
the system will edit your post to remove the quoted portion, and you’ll get a notification which tells you this.
…it’s not an actual moderator sitting there doing it.
