Showing BG queue progress

My friends and I have been doing a fair bit of BGs lately and have wondered several times whether or not we should just log out due to abnormally long queues, or to stick it out and wait (because gambler’s mentality, why not?). We came up with a pretty basic idea that we feel would help BG queue times and promote better attendance, and it’s as simple as showing how many more people are needed for the Horde and Alliance sides, akin to a dungeon queue. That way you know whether or not it’s worth sitting around for another couple minutes, or if it’ll be yet another couple hours. It might also help with balancing BG groups, if you look at your queue and there are 10/10 horde, and only 3/10 Alliance, you could go swap your BG faction to Alliance in order to fill out the group and improve queue times all around. Anyone who chooses to respond, please avoid going off on rants that aren’t productive to the conversation. Thanks

Totally agree with this … I’ve been in bg queues that have been almost two hours long over the last few days, and would love to have this info available when waiting. Please find some way of giving us an idea of how long the ‘in progress’ queues are.

10 char requirements are blarg.

I agree with this strongly

I think the problem is they are forming groups based on who queues for both factions. It’s likely not as simple as locking you into a group based on roles like they can do for LFR/dungeons.

basic and simple not too much to ask for.

This makes some good sense. Would help us to know when it would be a good time to fight for the other side every once in awhile.

Sure it’d be a harder logistical angle to work than dungeon queue progress, but it’s the exact same concept and I’m sure it’s not outside the world of possibility for such a big quality of life change. I think it’d really help BG balancing by causing more Horde to queue as Alliance for faster queues if they had the information to back it up as well.

Idk about this tbh, just merge the factions in battlegrounds much easier fix

Same concept but not really… you have two teams to face off each other. So much more goes into a BG queue than LFR/dungeon queue.

Sure, more goes into it. Though when an Alliance queues(or Horde), their information is already added to the database for group finding. It’d be a fairly simple concept to just display that information based on who they’re being grouped with.

Their are some factors into play like premades or rather 5 man groups. Rather you want to believe it or not the system tries to match 5 man groups with other 5 man groups. (This was a patch awhile ago, to lazy to search but it is a thing)

Another is trying to get fair matches like 1 tank both sides and 3 healers both sides but ofc since it takes awhile to get that setup it pushes ques through just to get a game going.

But all in all, it isnt as simple as oh x amount of allies are que’d up. Its more like x amount of healers and x amount of tanks oh and x amount people are que’d up that can tank heal or dps etc etc

Regardless of the process they’re using to find you a group, they could still program it to show us their progress. Nobody likes being in a queue for an hour and having no idea whether or not the group is at least close to coming together.

I wouldn’t mind something like this. Could also help know when to roll healer. Lately, I’ll go a couple games with no heals and then jump on a healer to queue, but apparently everyone else has the same idea and then we have five, lol.

Allow for mixed faction groupings or allow for faction vs same faction queuing.
Something has to be done.

It’s insane to me that Blizzard realized this problem and fixed it in ranged BGs but hasn’t realized and fixed it for random BGS.

But it’s not really static like a dungeon/LFR queue. All depends who queues up really. They might have to take a healer from this queue, which already has 3 healers, because these people queued for a BG with no heals.

Had this happen on Sat. We went from no heals vs their 4 healers for 2 games to them no heals vs our 5 healers. My head was spinning trying to keep up with healer counting for marking ours and calling out theirs! lol

Right? Pulling my hair out over here lol. Is this a recent change they made? It sure seemed more balanced before IMO.

I love all the 1st time posters agreeing with the op.

Good catch, I hadn’t even noticed until you mentioned it.
