I think the biggest reason to go back to %based titles is so that the skill level required between seasons is more uniform.
The issue with the %based title system in the past was you had no way of knowing how close you were to a goal because blizzard does not share the ladder breakdown.
So if they were to bring % based titles back, I think they should take a weekly look at the ladder and attach a percentile to your rating throughout the following week based on the collected data.
Requirements for titles would be fixed during the week and would only update after every reset.
If percentiles are too volatile for weekly adjustments, they could swap to monthly updates.
They could still add inflation to prevent people from sitting on rating.
There was also a big issue with carries, and with glad being % based, it meant it was artificially inflated due to those carries. Not super thrilled with the current system, but knowing what you have to get to one way or another is a bit nicer than having a goal post that constantly moves.

I honestly found myself really missing % titles at the end of S1. I enjoy arena so I’ll que anyways, but I’d already gotten elite/duelist, glad is unrealistic for me again unless I play a ton, there’s just no reason to que.
Even if you knew you were going to be hardstuck duelist, the last week was always a blast because ques were hot hot hot and you normally had to que a little bit to stay within range.
Just no incentive now after you get rival/duelist/glad or w/e your goal is
The only reason I’d say yes is because of super deflated seasons like this one. It keeps some consistency vs always requiring 2400 +50 wins for glad when the difficulty to hit 2400 can vary greatly from season to season.
It would also mean the value of glad in a super inflated season (like Sls s2) would still be worth the same even if its at like 2600.
Ideally, we are rewarded immediately for our accomplishments AND have varying levels of rewards for our end of season standings (beyond R1 and Gladiator).
Eh with blizzs tuning then its wouldnt even worth playing till the last two weeks and spamming whatever is giga broken
To be fair, 2400+ was over 2k people. With about 250-300 r1 spots, this season still wouldve been an easier accomplishment than attaining a top .5% standing (top 1250-1500).
