Gilblins don’t have a shred of technology though. They live caves lol
But think how cool it would be to see them in a fishy mech-suit!
Gilgoblins have been seen operating Naga technology and they have an engineering trainer so yes they have tech.
Night Elves have been seen operating Gnomish technology and they have engineering trainers.
That doesn’t mean they are a tech race.
Show me a single example of Gilblin tech.
I never said they have what it takes to be advanced tinkers. I did say though, that they have what it takes to be basic engineers.
“Gilblins don’t have a shred of technology though.”
In response to this.
They don’t. Show me any piece of Gilblin technology. It could be as basic as Night Elf engineering AKA a big glaive on wheels.
But you didn’t say Gilblin technology. You should have been more specific. I could also argue semantics on this. Lets say a Gilblin builds a piece of tech that looks like night elf tech, maybe it is Gilblin tech? Fact of the matter is that Gilblins haven’t had much exposure to the outside world in Nazjatar. More specifically the kelfin. I suppose it could be copyright infringement, but I’d find them more guilty of copyright infringement with the naga.
Giblins should have every capacity to do what regular Goblins can. It would be weird for them to be left out just because they had been slaves without access to tech.
Personally I think it would be great if the plot is these Kelfin gained their intelligence through naturally evolution and that they were put in a situation where they needed to improve their intelligence to survive. Rather than a magical rock. Aqua tinkers would be cool.
That being said. Having a variant of goblin, more close to nature is also nice.
No. Gilblin intelligence was diminished by the process that adapted them to underwater life and that made them primitive. They are curious about technology, but they aren’t smart enough to understand it.
“I’m glad that they’re so primitive. I don’t think I’d want to be dealing with a race of aquatic tech-freaks right now.”
I dunno, primitive doesn’t mean incapable. Surely they could learn from their cousins.
I don’t think they will.
Suppose they did. Now there’s no drawback to being a Gilblin. Why would any Goblin not want to become a Gilblin? Suddenly Non-Gil Goblins are obsolete.
Just ask Hobart to turn all Goblins into Gilblins. No more Goblins. Why be a Goblin when a Gilblin does everything a Goblin can do AND breathe underwater?
IMHO it’s good that Gilblins aren’t just Goblins+. You win something, you lose something.
There is a going theory that the Kelfin weren’t created by Hobart and that the dumb ones are the ones created by Hobart. What if Hobart used DNA from existing Gilblins to create the intelligent diminished ones we know? This would explain why they are this way.
It is also possible that they could be regaining their intelligence through some unknown means. Some people have even speculated Graal has something to do with their current level of intelligence.
Yes, it might be true a Gnome Engineer could count as a Tinker, but technically all Gnomes and Goblins are engineers, only a few are Tinkers.
For me though it is the possibility of a new type of Gameplay that a Tinker Class would require. ie Ranged weapon equipped Tanks and Healers.
The flavor, look and feel is just artwork, what I want is something that feels new and interesting.
Tinker could have that, the other popular suggestions is another caster with pets. Nothing new.
Tinkers in game are equipped with Ranged weapons (although Artwork changes it to mechsuits and backpacks). They Tank and Heal very differently, and if done right the Art would be fun. The DPS spec would be a the only spec that would have similarities to other specs, ie Traps and Bombs like Survival, and Totems like Shaman, but as they would be Ranged weapon equipped they would have to play out very differently.
Speculation is not lore. Unless a Blizzard Dev or some in-game source states otherwise, Hobart created the Gilblin Race. Because that’s what the game tells us right now.
Port-Ruffian’s Cleaver, I use it on my Outlaw Rouge and my demon hunter. It’s a green item you get it by doing Tiragrande Sound quests. Odds are, it’s in your mog already under one handed axes.
They did that years ago, Engineering is a fraction of what it use to be.
Yes I do because all professions have been gutted.
I think they’ll do what we’ve seen in game. Racial based Mech suits for Tanking, as all the new ones have visible shields, while healing and DPS specs would have the hose spray backpacks, also racial based art work.
And since Tinker would include Alchemist races ie Forsaken, we might see a meat-bag mechsuit for undead. Seriously who wouldn’t want to see that?
