Lets think about this for a second. In retail 1.8k is roughly 90th percentile give or take.
This means that ~90% of players will never hit 1.8k let a lone 2k
Is it fair that you have to be top 1-5% in your region in PvP to get a weapon?
Take this concept and apply it to PvE, see how dumb it sounds.
Do you only get your prince weapon if you parse a 97 (top 3%)
Do you only get your t4 shoulders if you parse a 99 (top 1%)
S1-2 had no rating requirements and should have never been changed. But even if they are, the weapons used to require 1800-1850 (canât recall) which is hard, but obtainable for a good amount of players. Making them require 2050 is unrealistic for north of 95% of the playerbase.
What about âWellfare epics, people will just run in and lose 10 games a weekâ
The rating starts at 0 now, that wont happen. Also your weekly points are calculated based off your team rating, meaning if you are âafkingâ or hardly trying it will take over a month to get your weapon.
Why is doing Kara challenging enough to reward weapons in s1, but if you pvp, you have to be a top contender in your region?
Should be challenging, not a top 10% thing. In TBC too many specs have BiS PvE weapons from arena. It would be different if there were better PvE itemization.
nah I believe if you can pay Blizzard 20 dollers for an pvp weapon they should have an in game credit card store to purchase weapons. for those that canât play the game alot.
I donât recall exact costs from back then. But I do know if you were not high rated, getting a weapon, especially a 2h took quite a few weeks (or months)
And all this time you are delaying your other upgrades, lets not forget.
Season 1 and 2 shouldnât require any rating to obtain gear as thatâs how it was in the original game. But now that weâre in the realm of âsome changesâ, arguing for the sake of authenticity doesnât get you anywhere.
Just eyeballing this, 2050 is about the 98.5 percentile. Meaning if youâre someone defending rating requirements on S1 weapons, and youâre reading this post, you will most likely never see a PvP weapon for yourself.
As for costs, an âafk for 10 lossesâ in 2s at 1500 earned you about 260 arena points. A 2H weapon cost 3750 arena points.
Hereâs a chart of 2.2 arena point calculations. I donât know if this changes now that teams arenât starting at 1500.
The sheer time it takes the âafk for 10 lossesâ crowd to get even a weapon is a âtaxâ enough. Weâre almost at season 2 by the time they get their weapons, assuming 20 week seasons.
You also âthrew outâ Seasons 1 and 2 of BC, which had no rating requirement. BC had 4 total seasons, so you just threw out half of BCâs PvP seasons. Youâre proving my point for me.
No season of arena ever required rating for entry level gear. Every subsequent season had its previous season gear discounted, reduced or relegated to honor.
This is going to be the first time in WoW history that the only PvP gear available from arena will have rating requirements.
You are chalking it up as being insignificant, is my point.
âLiterallyâ every season of BC aside from 1 & 2 had rating. So thatâs S3 and S4. Thatâs âliterallyâ half of BCâs arena seasons had no rating requirement on gear.
