I’m not liking retail so was going to level a lock on tbcc but since they’re going to have fresh start realms should I just wait until then?
My question basically is the economy ruined on the current realms?
It really depends on what you mean by ruined. If you mean people have enough gold to purchase items you put on the AH while leveling, allowing you to have more than enough gold for mounts, enchants, consumables, etc. then yes, the current realms are going to be much easier to do that on than fresh realms.
Makes sense, dumb question now that I think about it but thanks.
If you haven’t started classic yet then yes, it’s probably better to just start on the fresh servers. In my case I have 5 70’s and about 25k gold, fresh is a no-go for me.
As far as the economy goes, I have no clue. Apparently a lot of people are buying gold.
objective answer is no
but forum propaganda will say yes and fresh is always the panacea answer
Economy will always be ruined as people are buying gold all day every day with real money.
Fresh start servers will be much better in terms of bought/bot gold saturation, but it’s unlikely to stay that way over the course of months.
It’s a different game now. GDKP is a great and fun system in theory…until someone buys gold with real money to get what they want, then it snowballs until it touches everyone in the server.
But it’s keeping the game profitable, so there’s that.
- Up to you. You could already be 70 and ready to go for when wrath lands rather than starting new at that time.
- Every realm’s economy is ruined sooner or later. Blizzard barely does anything about bots. Yes a new realm is good for a while but rampant bots will soon wreck it just like every other realm.
If you have any interest in BGs or arena, or even merely obtaining pvp gear for whatever reason, then I’d be careful rolling on fresh realms. If you’re in the gen pop battlegroup, you’ll have more trouble finding teammates, getting gems/enchants/professionstuff from auction house. Your leveling and gearing will be slower from less access. You will get stomped in BGs and arena when you’re finally ready to participate. If fresh is in its own battlegroup, I’d say that’s even worse. BG and arena queues will be a wasteland.
I wouldn’t but that is because I have no faith in the fresh realms being viable.
Blizzard does nothing about bots or people buying gold. So the economy is going to go right down the drain and end up just like all the other realms.
Bots will set up day 1 on fresh since blizz will do nothing to deter them. Fresh servers will have gold inflation within a few months.
Forget about the economy and all the reasons people have listed about the “old servers” being ruined. The fresh servers will be in the same state within 3 months.
However, as a new player, the fresh servers will be better for your levelling experience because there will be a whole ecosystem of levelling for the first month or two, during which you’ll see others, and have dungeons in the offing.
Levelling on a fresh PvP server is amazingly fun. If you have not done it, I’d highly recommend it.
It truly puts the “World” in World of Warcraft in a way that has not been equaled in this game since.
