Hey guys… just got off nights so I’m gonna sleep in a sec but I wanted to throw this out there. I know there’s similar threads about the upcoming nerf but I wanted a direct thread with this specific purpose.
So I know many classes have crap mastery but druids aren’t one of them. I play boomy and feral and for boomy, it buffs: moonfire/sunfire, empowerment damage % (most of my builders) and starsurge. So like… basically everything lol.
For feral, it buffs: all bleed damage, and all finishers. So, aside from shred/brutal slash, it basically buffs everything too.
Now, my kicker is, mastery scales like… way better than vers. Way better. I’m not on right now but I feel like it was quite literally at least 3:1 last time I checked. So if I bought masterful my damage would skyrocket.
Of course though, mastery offers no defense. So… I just wonder at what point does damage outweigh the 15% dr difference? I feel like dr is just too important to pass up but man… that’s a LOT of damage left on the table. Of course vers also buffs essences and such so… tough call.
Thing is I can’t no life this game as much as I’d love to. If I spend my 20-25k echos… it’s gonna take me a while to get more. Just looking for opinions from hopefully, some much better players than I. I mean every piece I have is mastery/vers of course so I won’t have no vers but in this meta… kinda scared not to go all out.
Just build both it will cycle back before you know it and you’ll get a decent chunk of echoes before it comes back just by doing weekly stuff. Me personaly I’m buying mastery for now masterful instinct trait going to get a huge buff from the amps
First I think most players neglected important other main stats like Mastery, Haste, Crit just to get too much Versa. You should be using Dejacharacter stats addon for the extra stats to evaluate things like damage, attack power, GCD etc when theorycrafting.
Second amps really gain their value when you have traits or talents that get amplified. I am stacking Mastery on my Prot Pal and it just doesn’t work because Mastery is better than Versa. It works because Prot Pal has 2 different Azerite traits that have big Mastery on use/procs. Avenger’s Might trait is 815 mastery during wings. Soaring Shield 117 Mastery per target hit.
So taking Mastery Amps increases those big traits and my Seraphim talent gives 1,007 Mastery on use. So stacking mastery amps makes sense.
I would say any Boomkin/Feral likely will benefit from having more other stats besides just Versa but I am not familiar with all your traits or if you have a talent or something that can really be AMPED from a stat amp like some Classes/Specs can.
When I can press a key and get 2,300 Mastery on use it makes sense to just wear Mastery Amps when it’s a beast to stack for my spec. If I didn’t have mastery traits or talent that did that I would be forced to use more Versa though.
I still have on 1 Versa amp it’s still a great amp to increase Essences like conflict and damage. I just replaced 2 with Mastery though to get a better benefit. Then looking to add another Gushing latter.
Well, I feel like the next vers will cycle in Tuesday which is why I ask lol. I personally hate when something is super mandatory because it takes all customization out. Like do I want crit for some rng burst and more combo points? Or haste for energy regen and faster autos/clones, maybe mastery for huge bleeds and bites,…oh wait no I can’t because I HAVE to use vers else I die in a stun. Just kinda sucks because like… I’m GOING to get stunned ya know? I‘M going to get hit. So… I don’t know. I may just grab tons of mastery and check it out but some classes have so much damage that it’s kinda scary not grabbing some vers lol.
For sure man, should let me know. Boomy is kinda tanky in its own right so the lack of stupid amounts of vers might not be as noticeable as say on, a feral. Still though, it’s definitely nice to pre bear a stun and just be chillin haha.
I know you’re kinda a meme and clearly you spent time typing this all out but like… I have a hard time taking you seriously. I mean obviously secondaries have value when traits or talents amp it. Yes, boomy in pvp for me runs super strong moonfire/dots. Feral runs iron jaws for massive maim (finisher). So yes, mastery affects those both. I know mastery would give a ton of damage but my dilemma here is that I don’t wanna treat it like pve. I’m basically wondering if the massive damage is worth the lack of defense. Being a glass cannon in arena rarely works out.
You have an odd/rare circumstance :P. That does sound fun though.
That isn’t what I was saying. I looked up Iron Jaws and it doesn’t benefit Mastery amps. I was asking if there are Traits that provide Mastery like Avenger Might for example. AM trait gives 815 Mastery per trait so Mastery amps increase that to insane levels making the burst worth it.
You would want direct stat Traits to benefit the amps.
I mean imagine running 3 Avenger Might traits you can totally negate the 50% PvP nerfs by adding in Mastery amps. This is why some traits are so strong with amps and some builds/specs are so crazy.
Well, ok… So if you’re specifically looking at stat boosts, yes. Masterful instincts gives a large amount of mastery once survival instincts runs out (our biggest defensive). Kinda a weird trait to me. I don’t particularly like blowing a huge cd for a go cause it can bite you in the @$$. Now of course sometimes those plays are necessary and if I needed to use it anyway, a strong retaliation is nice. Anyway though, yes there are traits that buff mastery. However it’s not to say you should downplay iron jaws because it’s still a trait that buffs a finisher and more mastery would still help that even more. The main stat increase feral has on heat is for crit but pvp… yeah.
To touch on this specifically, I’m not so much worried about other people’s dr. Not stacking vers has me worrying about my own defense. Imagine someone doing the big dam build and not having high vers. Almost guaranteed to die.
