Should it be banned? No. Should everyone stop using it and actually try to learn their classes on their own? Yes.
Removing the crutch isn’t going to stop you from running into bad players. It’s just going to make them worse. There are many addons that are doing worse to the game just by existing than hekili will ever do
Dunno about casters, but for melee and bm Hunter I would say hekili + some class/fight knowledge is an easy upper blue to lower purple parse.
I dunno how good it would be for casters due to spell cast times.
I’d say it’s likely not good for tanks because you have things to do other than Max your dps.
Since it’s not actually pressing the buttons for you, it’s more a dynamic notepad reminding you of something you could potentially learn yourself, I don’t think it’s worth worrying about.
Simply using every GCD will get you adequate damage.
the button bloat / complexity is an overall highest it’s ever been
Some specs move too fast too use that addon
I could see it doing some heavy lifting for Outlaw over manually hitting whatever
There are better tools than Hekili for specs where the wrong GCD is actively detrimental and not just sub-optimal.
Never used or heard of it, but I don’t care. I doubt anyone I play with uses this. If people need it to push higher I’m fine with it I guess. It’s not botting.
I find this unlikely.
People who play in that bracket quickly learn a spec by playing it, not by using Hekili. You could at least try making this less of an obvious “HURR HURR DA TOP PLAYERZ R BAD BCUZ ADDONS” troll post.
Yeah with enhance there’s a very specific way you need to combo your spells together and hekili’s not gonna teach you any of that.
What sort of stuff? I lost interest with Outlaw because they are just going silly with it now. I hate that all 3 specs are based on shadow dance and Outlaw has so many if/when, procs and windows that I actually decided Tanking as a brewmaster was less hassle.
Cringe.
I will admit to using this addon, I don’t always follow what I said, but it often times helps me focus due to mental disabilities. I don’t pretend to be a good player, or a high level player. I just use it to help me enjoy the game.
It’s hit or miss depending on the spec, for some specs it streamlines the rotation very well (Unholy, Fury, Destro), but for the more complex specs it doesn’t understand the nuance and just trips over itself (Arcane).
Well, WeakAuras for one.
Cause realistically speaking, if you know Outlaw well enough that you could optimize Hekili to the point where it’s good, you could just create the WeakAuras.
Cause conditional weakauras like “Show X ability when I have Y seconds or less on Z ability” aren’t hard if you’re not fussed about the weakaura looking pretty.
You could’ve been a PhD but instead you’re whatever you are.
For some it is.
You just, whether intentionally or implicitly, made your thread into a veiled “remove all addons” thread. So the point to this is a firm… no.
Folks couldn’t play the game any better prior to addons like Hekili. The point is that addons like Hekili provide a subset of people a degree of automatisation. Which in turn makes awful players less awful and more … extremely questionable in terms of their skills.
But it doesn’t have a negative impact on people’s ability to play the game because the people who use addons like Hekili in this fashion would’ve otherwise never learned anything anyway. What addons like Hekili does is provide a baseline; for folks actively looking to improve, it becomes a tool to more quickly get a “general” rhythm and feel for the playstyle. For folks who only care about meeting the basic baseline in order to enjoy the game that way, that’s what it does in that case.
So you admit to using it but complain about others using it but it’s ok if you use it because you got achievements. Weird flex.
