Should Hekili be banned?

The people in my guild that I was with seemed impressed that could do Vault Normal, Raz included, without anyone addons besides Details! which doesn’t assist with raiding like DBM and WA. I honestly don’t get how it’s impressive to do normal or heroic without addons.

I will say though, something that annoyed me (and will annoy me in fated) was the positive and negative charge during the shield phase in P2. They have positive as blue and negative as red, and I feel like everyone else in the world has it opposite, so I get tripped up on that. Yes, it technically is just red stack with red and blue stack with blue, I can’t not notice the symbol, or the addons that have you saying what charge you have.

I sort of feel inspired to try playing without dbm just to see how I do. Using the audio and animation cues for a little. sounds sort of fun! Plus I won’t get yelled at to watch my feet a bunch of times. Well unless the healer starts yelling.

A rotation helper addon whose true obfuscated purpose is to be the base of some fully automated rotation bots.

Plural, as in more than one bot uses it to do so.

Oh I see got you.

Enter into Google “Private WoW Hekili Auto-Rotation Macro” and you’ll see why hekili needs to be removed entirely.

Also can find stuff like this:

Oh… oh dear.

Yeah, pretty much…

Also at 12:13 in the video the name of one of the party members is shouted by an addon, in case a GSO / hacks team employee is trying to track things down.

I’m confused as to why this is hekili that’s the problem. The fact this is following what hekili may suggest is completely coincidental and whatever tech is being used to make this work should absolutely be looked into / removed from player’s hands. Given this was months ago it wouldn’t even surprise me if it already has been.

Yup, a symptom of an even larger issue. Blizzard shook that rats nest last year with banwaving a rotation bot and then doing security patches two months later to patch another abuse the same people were doing.

Regardless of all that, nothing hekili actually does is problematic. They just base their rotation bots off the priorities it works with because they’re consistent with player expectations and nobody who makes or uses these things actually knows how to play the game enough of a degree to do better.

Your assumption / comments that hekili exists to enable these bots is at best conjecture.

One click button that does everything is how you get teenagers to make an autohotkey autoclicker put in work, the definition of problematic.

That’s not what hekili is, you’re reaching into the realms of conspiracy.

Did we see the same video above?

Yes. That’s a rotation bot, it’s not hekili.

That’s using hekili.

That could just as easily run off its own script if the bot creator cared, it’s just easier to copy something else.

All hekili does is put a flowchart on your screen and read combat events to estimate how many targets you’re fighting (Something it almost always gets wrong).

It makes a good baseline for someone to make a rotation bot from, but nothing it does is the problem.

Yep. It’s really no different than all the class WA’s you see.

I am currently using MaxDPS to do the same thing as Hekili. I’m not a raiding level player, but I need all the help I can get.

hero rotation has mitigation for tanks, I like it as a memory aide.

I do use Hekili, it helps me with some of the timing for some dps rotations (especially for my very casual toons). I also heal, and use VuhDo, and I use a lot of weak auras. Yes they’re crutches, and they make me better than the bad players who do their rotations completely wrong. I only do high-ish keys on 3 toons, and not even to 3k. But, on the other hand, I did take time to get my PhD…
