As a Mythic raider, you’ve always had to do Raid Prep outside raid. You can’t just “raid log” as a Mythic raider until the tier is on farm.
Just FYI : I’m doing a Mythic EP clear on an alt right now, we’re about to pull Za’qul. So it’s not like it can’t be done.
PTR has the catchup for essences.
Why can’t I? I haven’t done raid prep save for the first tier of a new expansion between tbc to wod and managed a world 7th mythic kill in mop.
Why do I need to spend all this prep time you talk about?
Thats not all gear. Think about how AP automatically bumps you up to LVL 35 after 8.2 came out. There is always a baseline catchup for alts/mains in a new patch. WE do not have that confirmed for 8.3 except a few minor tweaks.
Because every alt does need to do the rep grind and the pvp grind, etc for essences.
For many specs this is the case.
Ok so lets solely balance the game with those guilds? Guilds that were probably min/maxing in many other ways that the general population will not do.
No its tedious from the very first time I do it. But I did it. It sucked. Doing it again is not fun. Its just tedium. It was tedium with my main and more tedium with my alt. Except I cannot just grind it. I am severely time locked and it is the worst.
Great of your guild to not care about your VP upgrades, Cloak and Rings in MoP/WoD I guess. Grats.
That’s just the high end game. If you can’t cut it, it’s fine.
Why are you going after essences that are not your best in slot though?
Anyway, it is only the 8.2 reps that give essences atm. None of the 8.0 ones do. So again, you don’t need to do pathfinder on every toon.
All the essence catch up is in 8.3, and it’s not minor. The requirements are halved for some of the “harder” essences like the rep ones.
All of those got done in raid with two 15min activities outside of it…

MoP raid gave not enough valor for cap. Neither did WoD raids. Your memory is shoddy.
Why would the general population of WoW even care about getting ALL essences to rank 3 on all their alts though?
Yes, MoP did it didn’t cap you but you did a quick 5 min scenario afterwards.

Yeah it got added with mythic dungeons in 6.2
VP upgrades and the Ring weekly ring upgrade were done through Mythic dungeons, all VP came from Mythic dungeons.
Character power should be determined by the content the person does and what level they do it at.
If I do Mythic Raids or high end M+ Keys, then my characters power should reflect that level of content, not be severely gimped because I didn’t do a bunch of dailies on an alt.
Make Essences account wide.
I guess I just did it because I enjoyed it since it was tied to appropriate content and not tacked on to non related content like world questing.
Wasn’t that from an item Archimonde gave you if you killed him on normal or higher after you got the legendary ring?
Yes, yes it was. Must be confusing it with the old item upgrade system where you could upgrade gear twice with VP.
What if instead we kept it as it is, but all essences could be gotten through any content.
Like you just get Essence currency and buy essences. Rank 3s still take 3 weeks, but 3 weeks doing whatever you want.
Because Account wide power is just something WoW has never done and should never do. This is an RPG, not an eSport hero-swap game.

Yeah you’re right, we’d slip in the Heroic Archimonde run early Tuesday prior to doing our M Archimonde prog, VP was only for the 2/2 upgrades.
