It seems like a massive turn off to returning players to gimp them out of the gate by not letting them get the best version of the new glyph system in 8.3.
It is like a more harmful version of AP. It stops people from returning to the game who want to do higher end content.
Biggest lie of the expansion. No one will have bis gear by getting essences easier. Essences are a part of the grind, a big part but not the whole grind. 80% of the grind is baked into rings, trinkets, bis stat gear, azerite power and a bunch of 8.3 grinds like the legendary cloak and corruption management. You are a liar to claim a person gets bis everything if they get essences.
Also what if its not an alt? What if its someones main that they never grinded up essences on because its a crap bandaid system? For the first time in almost a decade the new patch wont be a gear reset. It will be a soft reset because of essences and people like you need to get over yourselves.
Since when are essences everything? Its like 20% of the grind. Just the most egregiously time locked most boring part of the grind that gives you no choice in the content you want to do.
I feel it’s unfair to count essences as gear. Weren’t included as a bandaid for the overpruned specs, to let them have at least one more spell?
Artifacts gave us a spell inmediately after acquirement, no after weird requirements nor time gating. And it also included passives that could be acquired by doing any type of content. On top of that, they included a catch up mechanism.
Having made a few characters new, I don’t really see it as a big deal anymore.
I’ve just looked through my raider io logs. You’d be surprised at how many people just stick to the basic Azerite essences.
Could be a concern if you’re pushing very high keys on all your characters but it’s already a small % of people who go past +15, so I’d imagine it would be even smaller for people who do it on many characters.
I do not see a single forum post asking for everything that isnt a troll. Even the troll ones do not go that far. Where did you get this info from? It is far from the reality I am seeing.
I never said they are not important. I actually said its about 20% of the grind. However the other 80% will be getting gear, trinkets, rings, azerite pieces, the legendary cloak upgrades, M+, Raiding, AP, and the new currencies of the next patch. That is what I meant by they are not everything. They are not the whole grind people have to do, i.e. they are not everything.
Well idk about that since after getting the essences not only it was considerably more viable it also felt considerably better and smooth to play (which should have been from the start Blizz…)
That’s not what he said, that’s entirely too aggressive of an accusation, and you’re a liar for attempting to represent him as such.
Then they can take 2-3 weeks (less probably with the 8.3 nerfs) to grind out it as they gear up. FFS you just have to play the game, the horror.
I and most people I play with are huge fans of the system. It added another layer of much needed choice and complexity to classes, and frankly it was a fun little grind that motivated you to branch out a little bit into all forms of content if you wanted to maximize power as quickly as possible. Very healthy for the game.
People who played the game a few weeks before the patch comes out will have a short-lived advantage over those just showing up? Feature not a bug.
Oh trust me I have been paying attention. I think you are mixing the possible with the fun. People who have played this game long enough know what an alt grind is and have become used to it as a standard grind. The essences grind is completely new to this game and to BFA. Its not fun to just farm rep, hk, daily quests, etc every day because this is not a job this is a game. There is a grind that most people are willing to do such as emissaries and weekly lockouts. Forcing players to a daily grind or else you lose out on a 30% increase in power is not fun especially when the daily grind is about as creative as folding dry laundry.
Its not that its impossible. Its that given the limited time I have + the desire to be entertained the grind is not worth the hours of boredom to come with the essences grind. This is a game that is meant to be fun. That is not fun. So aside from my main character I wont do it again because its a bad system that deserves to be nuked.
I’m sorry, but you’ll have to play the game to have power in the game. The broader and deeper you go, the more power you have access to. It’s how it’s always worked. Great design really. There’s nothing so powerful that you can’t just choose not to do it and make do without it - there are great alternatives to BotE and CnS for people who refuse to pvp at all for example. But if you just have to have them and you really hate the method, its ultimately not that long of a grind for any of it frankly.
