Should a player be suspended for placing (mage) portals in LFR?

So mages are designed to stack portals so players will go to some random location if they try to use it. Or realizing the mage has decided to send everybody someplace different with their dozen stacked portals, they must walk out.

Let me guess. Your main is a mage.

You… do know you don’t have to click said portal?

Here’s some alternative ideas:

  1. Blizzard can make it so you can’t stack portals. They must be…10 yards apart.

  2. Portals all have a collective cool down of 10-15 seconds. This gives you time to look at and inspect said portal when it’s cast.

These are just ones I’ve thought of off the top of my head to solve the actual issue instead of just being upset.

If you fall for the same thing multiple times… just use your Hearth. It costs you nothing to do so.

Besides, the issue is on Blizzard’s end, not the players’. It’s been in the game for as long as the mage class themselves. In other words, it’s not a bug, nor an actionable offense. It is a feature.

Yes.
Well the portals were designed to not have a hitbox so.
Yes.

Let the portal roulette begin! (Just take a fraction of a second to pause instead of spam click the portal)

No. Who would click on a portal during a raid unless it ended. Also before you click on the portal place mouse over and see where it is going. So this is on you or anyone who clicks on the portal

Nobody forces you to click it. They usually drop it someplace you are likely to click like a summoning portal or a healthatone altar. Then you go to click and their portal pops and you get tricked. So forced no, tricked yes.

You are defending the idea of tricking someone. You are defending it by saying people shouldn’t be tricked, they should defend themselves better. That is victim blaming.

It’s a minor thing but it’s pointless bullying for a laugh. It also can screw up runs and cause people to get mad and lose their fun. I think that sucks, you seem to think it’s funny. That’s pretty sad.

So I vote we make it easy to spot who did it to kick them by adding a whopping KB at most to the temporary log of the player that clicked on it. What a mad man I am.

As a trollololol mage myself. That’s not how it happens.
It happens at the end of a raid or dungeon run. People think you are dropping a city portal, when it’s not.

Btw you shouldn’t throw around terms like “victim blaming”. It doesn’t apply to petty stuff like this. It’s usually to shame people that are victims of SA or abuse. So grats on applying that to someone foolish enough to click a portal.

As someone who was actually bullied irl. I don’t think you know how bullying works. It’s literally a harmless prank.

It’s not funny. It’s hilarious. Especially when you watch them take the portal and then dead in party frames.
Tis a scenario of take the joke and move on.

You literally put words in my mouth. Her, let me correct you. I did not advocate for victim blaming. I advocate for some personal responsibility. I’ve never been tricked by health since portal kun. Oh noes, you are slightly inconvenienced. If that removes your fun… this is a video game. Sorry your circumstances make it so you lost your fun. I guess.

Were you tricked? Non. You still moved up to click the thing. Did you not notice the mage rush over and channeling something? Sucks if you got yourself ported away.

But you are still making the choice. The mage doesn’t trick you. You just didn’t pay attention to what you were clicking.

Now answer my questions. You have no data to back up your reason for that new, pointless system. We already have mostly automated responses to reports. They’re trained to pick out key words to sort into piles. Has Blizzard or any of their employees actually banned someone for portal roulette? If they have, fair, but I’ve never seen it out heard that they did it.

Just pay a little more attention. If your distracted enough or don’t care, that’s not in the mage player. I’ve already suggested two beret solutions than the ones you gave. Issue is, portals don’t cause that much harm to the community. Unless there’s suddenly a mass amount of issues, it’s unlikely to be profitable for Blizzard to bother doing anything about.

That’s just the truth of it. Blizzard, at the end of the day, is a business. If you want to have been listen, you have to tell them with your wallet. Is that moral? Well, that’s up to the individual and society. As of the moment? Blizzard makes enough money that they don’t have to care.

So is it pointless to talk about it? Hardly, or Blizzard wouldn’t have a forum.

But I’ve also given you the other options. Most of them are common sense. Slow down, pay attention, or go with the flow. If that kills your buzz with the game… well, speak with your wallet. I can’t give you the best solutions, and neither can you give the best one. That’s life.

Oh. And if you think that idea of labeling the portal as someone’s will change this? Or that you get some form of data that saved the name of the mage? Your wrong. Mages will still do it. I don’t know how long you’ve been on the internet, but…

I mean. I don’t do it, but that’s because I’m not a mage player. I do play S.Priest jor Ele Shaman. Also, the point about when the portal happens is important.

If someone does it during downtime, for example, it’s just for a bit of fun. If that stresses out someone, that sucks for them. But that’s life. You’re playing a video game that takes time away from real life.

I’m sure there are people that either don’t want to engage in real life, can’t due to circumstances, ect… but like. You can’t police behavior that 99% of the time doesn’t negatively affect you.

Victims are not people that get ported to the Dalaran crater and die. Everyone has access to gliders now, and many classes have a way to not die from the fall. I’m struggling to think off a class that didn’t have slow fall, a glide, or just straight reduced damage from falling. Heck, druid just turns into a bird. Is it warlock?

Ah it’s not a trick…but wait…

Weird. Guess it is only a trick if it happens to you.

When did I say is only a trick of it happens to me? Still putting words in my mouth. You see the difference is, I admit I didn’t pay attention. It’s my fault.

If you didn’t post attention, were you tricked? Or was it that you didn’t pay attention and in your rush to click something, you messed up? We’re you in such a hurry that being ported away was that upsetting?

I’ll laugh at my mistakes because they were made in a video game.

I’m also going to need proof that mage players do what you said that could. Never seen it. I’ve run plenty of LFR, random M+, and other groups with random people thrown together. Can’t say I’ve seen a mage throw a portal on top of a hearthstone well, though…

Maybe just bad luck on your end, eh?

Anyway, since all you can do is attack my character and never attack my points, I’m just going to ignore you. I thought you might have actual points to defend, but every time it’s something new. A continuous moving goalpost, as it were.

Have a good WoW life. And have fun in TWW.

My my someone got upset they got doff into the one of the oldest tricks in WoW placement of mage portals to teleport you out …haha…take it as a lesson learned…learn to pay attention to the details either large or small…

Absolutely not if you click the portal, not only are you are scrub and a newb, but you shouldn’t even be raiding!

You no take candel

Quit being so soft. There will always be trolls in an MMORPG. That’s not going to stop. If people don’t want to deal with stupid stuff…then don’t que. Go with a group you know. Besides, if it isn’t actually against the TOS…they aren’t going to do anything.

One of my favorite memories in WoW was back in MoP throwing a portal to Dalaran crater right after an Oondosta kill. I didn’t even stack it on anything, just threw it right there out in the open, all by it’s lonesome.

Everyone must have just clicked it and went AFK, cuzz me, a rogue, and a warrior were still standing there, and the entire rest of the raid died!

I think I still have a SS somewhere! Off to find it!

Absolutely. People who do this are trying to maliciously mess with other players, more so if they place the portal on the lockbox. Kick them.

My personal favorite was using the direbrew remote in the warsong gulch match before it started. You always got at least 1 person every match. Then they were rewarded with a 30 min deserter buff lol. Admittingly I only know because I fell for that trap once and instead of being upset I laughed and said “damn they got me”.

ngl this woulda been hysterical lol

just bc its there doesnt mean it should be used. this coulda been a troll move
and the mage didnt have to say anything, or if it was an accident they coulda have apologised? tho this doesnt seem 2 be a rampant thing so i doubt blizz will do anything. i’d just get over it either way lol

REALLY report a mage who was just trolling? That is hilarious, mage was probably just trolling to see who would actually fall for the bait.

I think it’s being a little too soft to report such a little thing, after all its only LFR it’s not like you cant queue again.

Enough with the suspend stuff. Send them to Guantanamo Bay.
