A colleague of mine was called into HR for posting a meme on her FB page about how work sucks. She was read the riot act, told her attitude was very negative and let go . They didnt care that it was just a meme that she shared. 15 years with the company and she was terminated like that.
If we can be stupid on the forums they should be able to be snarky on Twitter.
I don’t see a problem with a snarky response now and again. Players need to be put in their place once and while. Can’t have the no taxes, extensive benefits situation that mob rule generates.
But be more intelligent with it than making a logical fallacy in thinking the player base has one monolithic opinion that defends and attacks both sides of an issue. Of course if his point was that as a group there is no way know what the hell we all want, he wasn’t clear about it.
After everything that we have seen come from Acti/Blizz do you really think they are going to care what a few people think? Those people who are offended can leave, they’ll just get someone else to start playing.
Customer service people can vent all they want. If you dont like what hes said, man if you could see how badly the people in call centers vent on their twitters
Who is going to get him in trouble? The lousy game designers he was defending against those mean old customers who dare to not support lousy game designers?
I mean…how do you think Blizzard dug itsef the hole it is in? Clearly mediocrity and worse is protected in their culture.
I worked in retail when i was younger and I was called every name in the book, spit on, slapped, and had my life threatened. All because someone could not return a used product or they didnt like a price change
Seems weird to keep having Lore saying incendiary things to rile up players.
I mean, this is hardly the first thread we’ve had about him doing that.
At some point I’d have expected Blizzard to maybe go up to him and say “Hey… Lore… so… maybe it’s just not like the super 100% best greatest idea to intentionally upset the playerbase, no biggie no foul just putting that on your plate…”
These people are not companies, they are people. No one deserves to be ridiculed for simply doing their job.
You had a really unfair job then because the tweet is mild at best. This outrage is getting a little manufactured
Eh. Let him be snarky. With how people disrespect, demean, demonize, and call for the firing of devs/CMs, can’t blame people for pushing back when you push them.
Look at Tseric back in the day.
I’d be snarky too if I had to deal with the mouth-breathers that come on these forums.
BTW, they’re snarky on Twitter partly because we’re too damn toxic here. Everyone’s always ‘why don’t they post here?’ and it’s like, you know how we are, if you were Blue would you want to post here?
Ya, customers suck, you’ll get no arguments from me. But you don’t get to tell them that to their face if you want to keep your job. At least that’s how I was trained.
Obviously Blizzard doesn’t care. There has been worse posted by employees on this forum.
Actually yes they will care because the stock is low and they are now sensative to what the shareholders say. If you have a manager who is making waves on social media , they can and probably will correct that behavior . Happens all the time
Then you are against me as well because I don’t think an employee like him who continuously expresses contempt for the community can be effective as a CM. So I wouldn’t be outraged at all if he was fired. Doesn’t matter if it is his personal account or not.
This is the reality of using social media while working for a big company . It does not matter if you think it was no big deal, someone else did.
Exactly. If you wish to be employeed you take it with a smile. And trust me if you get a reputation for being mouthy or rude to customers, good luck getting another job
If you can show me a job that’s “fair”, I’d love to see it. Trust me, if you work in any type customer services this is expected. And this “manufactured outrage” is the precise reason it is. Especially in this brave new world of Social Media Pitchfork Mobs.
I actually have to fire an employee today for the stuff he puts on his personal facebook. It reflects negatively on our company and we take the ‘guilty by association’ approach. They are aware of our policy before accepting the job.
That is a perfect description. I’ll be borrowing that.
That was then. This is now and Activision is running the Blizzard ship. Also , as i stated, the stock price is hurting , they arre going to have a very bad year with no new games so yeah, no company is going to put up with that nonsense. I bet his tweet has already generated a meeting with HR and his supervisor
