It is their personal Twitter. If you don’t like what they say, don’t follow them.
I’d get snarky too if people constantly called for me to get fired. What is good for the goose (players in this case) is good for the gander (blizzard employees in this case). Don’t want snark, don’t fire it out.

Oh dont get me wrong, it gets said. But he and Ion likely get the brunt of the community’s ire, at least from what I see.
But in a year of record numbers he has the gall to try and blame the firings of others on the players who brought them those record numbers.
Does he also blame the players for that fat bonus they handed out to the new guy too? Or only things he can siphon sympathy from?

Have y’all seen some of the crazy posts people make here and on Twitter? If that was constantly directed at you, wouldn’t you be a bit snarky sometimes?
Of course you wouldn’t /s

Okay but people do call for devs to be fired. Maybe not so much here on the forums but twitter is a yikes part of the internet.
Being involved in making games can get exhausting when players feel entitled to everything you do and scream and yell or send death threats over things like launch delays.
I didn’t interpret his words as “buy our stuff” so much as “maybe treat everyone with dignity, don’t just wait for something bad to happen”.

Silence was always his best and smartest move.
He has a history of blowing up and getting it thrown back in his face. Sure it doesnt make the antagonizes look good, but it certainly doesnt make the Blizzard Employee™ look good either.

I agree - as soon as an employee starts talking about their work and work related items, it’s no longer a “private account” and they should be cautious on how they’re making the company they work for look.
And IMO, the tag line of “…doesn’t reflect my employer” that so many people put doesn’t cut it - don’t talk about your employer/work/customers/etc. if you really want your account to be a “private” non-work related account… IMO, it’s just a thinly veiled attempt to be able to talk and try to avoid consequences and being held responsible for what you said…
(not strictly talking about Lore here, my thoughts apply to anyone & everyone who does this kind of crap)

Depends on the audience I guess. I love watching employees stand up for themselves. Take Wendy’s twitter for example. I follow them for the snarky remarks and I don’t even like their food.

There’s a real thin line though between a snarky tongue-in-cheek response like Wendy’s like to put out and being passive aggressive and showing contempt for the people you’re supposed to be assisting/supporting…

I don’t believe in Twitter or any other social media (except for Forums for products you buy/use).

True.
And I’ll just note (because I’m sure someone will read it later and @ me), that my comment above was in relation to the generalization the OP was attempting, not the specific instance they were actually talking about.
Generally, snark is amazing and should be cherished (Wendy’s twitter is a treasure), but the contempt that has been shown by the person we’re all really talking about here, is a little off that mark.

Also how “private” is it if we all know about it lol

I don’t even use Twitter, but I read the “snarky” tweet in question … because someone posted on GD.
Did anyone notice the clarification in where he was referencing a different company than Blizzard, which also laid off employees en mass?
Yet, I see people correlating it to him putting himself in the same boat as to how others were fired (at Blizz) … or whatever.
Reading into things is easy, but maybe read the whole thing before you skim and formulate an opinion?

Yeah, its surprisingly worse than GD, a major accomplishment.
He was doing fine for months, not a single Blizzard post except about friends and family and other games. He chose to stick his neck out in a platform that allows replies and made an antagonistic post. He got replies.
I disagree fully here, he has a history of blaming the players and attacking the players. He needs to give respect before he can receive it. I started out years ago fully respecting Blizzard and the miracle people who did the work. It was by their own actions that ive lost it over time. The disrespect he and they get didnt just poof into existence one night.
He should be trying to mend bridges not burn them and that twitter post is anything but meant to built respect, from how I see it.

Wendy’s responses are tailor made to be snarky but still respectful. They handle things with class. They get posted on family friendly sites all the time in good humor.
Lore did neither of those things, from what I read, just underhanded remarks, which he has done before and a few of his more infamous ones couldn’t even be posted here without a ban for its contents.
I cant really compare the two.

I think the tweet - if I’m thinking about the same one - brings up a good point, honestly, and that has a lot to do with why I defended it.
People in general - Not just wow players, and not just the Blizzard community/gamers - need to really take a good hard look at the way we talk to content creators and service people. Just because you pay for something and don’t like it doesn’t give you the right to verbally attack people all the time. They are real people with real feelings that are more often than not trying their best.
If you’re not one of those people, and you’re giving constructive criticism, then he obviously isn’t talking about people like that.

CM’s should set the example. If the mods would action for it here, then maybe the CM’s shouldn’t say it here or elsewhere.

you should treat people the way you’d like to be treated. so if you want respect from someone show them respect.

…Ideeeeally, but I’m pretty sure the entirety of humanity has failed that achievement.

So if he cant be snarky, does that mean that we can no longer be snarky here?
To be honest, if youre upset about something said on the internet by a person who has had threats against him made because of the job he has, then you are apart of the problem.
Long live the snark.
