3 feathers and a 40% sprint on shield can actually get you pretty far in PvE. Priest usually has no problem keeping up. Their speed boosts hav such low cds you can cycle them pretty well and maintain a speed boost for a long time
They need to either choose to shorten the range and give us no cast time or they need to lengthen the range and give us longer cast time lmao such an awkward class.
As someone who jumped on their evoker for the first time last night since it hit 70…the shorter range isnt an issue. Outside of a very few select mechanics, theres hardy ever a reason to be sitting at max range anyway.
Being in that “mid” range allows you to react accordingly, and quickly.
The only two I’ve encountered were Nymue’s far plants (can’t stand in them as Dev as they tend to be just beyond our range) and Tindral if you’re assigned to be 3rd/4th dispel as you’d have to make the line curve closer to the boss to be able to maintain uptime.
Having Hover, however, it’s extremely rare to be in a position where we are losing DPS while moving because we can remain planted and turret when we don’t need to move so that we can have hover for the times we do need to, only when the situations call for running far away does it cause any problems.
100% agreed on this, though nymue is just like anything else where you need your other ranged to know where to be soaking and you’re fine. Having to suck up a little DPS for one or two soaks is also just something that even melee have to do now and then.
You can also hover-disint into a slightly out of range flower and cheese a little extra range out of it, and the fact that glide lets us jump over lines is more than a fair trade on that fight.
Were on smolder so I haven’t pulled tindral yet but I’ll be having that fun soon enough.
Either way, there are actually so few fights that even potentially could be annoying that it’s obvious why that person hasn’t even answered my question (I saw them start to type for a while and then never post anything).
And at any rate, these are only issues in mythic, which most of those complaining aren’t seeing (which is totally understandable and fine, but the versions of the fights that exist outside mythic just don’t present any ranged-based problems that aren’t player-imposed.
Two bosses that can have minor design issues in an entire expansion is less than a lot of classes have (certainly less than most melee have in an expansion, tbh).
Yeah. 300-odd pulls into M Tindral with getting as low as 16% so far. It’s really a fight but most of the wipes are fast and instant from one person messing up that our range isn’t really an issue.
One example of great annoyance to me regarding range is dealing with afflicted and incorporeal in keys, should one spawn beyond 25 yards. Hovering towards one is often not possible due to ground effects or boss/mob mechanics. This is only one reason I dislike the limitations.
Our range might work ‘fine’ in most senses, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be looked at if the majority of players (myself included) are finding it very irritating. If it truly was an experiment, there’s no shame in discarding it.
But if it were an experiment, and it’s been good all expansion, there’s no point in discarding it. If people are finding something that they opted into ‘irritating’, then the class probably isn’t for them.
I find the playstyle of warlock irritating, but that doesn’t mean it needs to, or should, change. It means it’s not the class for me. and that’s perfectly okay.
