I’ll take reverse temporal anomaly instead.
(Imagine an orb coming in from like 100 yards.) Then we wouldn’t be destroying the universe.

Lol. That would be something
i love being the same range as a ret pally. nothing say ranged dps like standing next to melee. this mid range test they tried out has obviously failed… if they really wanted to make it work it would have effected more specs and not just 1 class. they didnt even last a entire xpac with balancing fights around a single class having 20 yds range. it started good with vault then started to drop off. people have been saying its bad since alpha. at this point it feels like they made a dumb decision and are to embarrassed to admit it and are doubling down in the hopes people just accept a failure as a success or go to a different class. and pushing people away from the new class the xpac it came out in seems like a bad move. theres no gain from less range. its not like pres heals for 10% more for its massive loss in healing range since 10 yds is way bigger than just 10 yds, and theres no way dev is doing 20% more dps to make up for that lack of range. the evoker range seems like a drunk bet and not something that was actually thought out by someone.
Simply saying something “failed” while it was good for an entire expansion isn’t actually valid. Explain how it failed.
Lol with all the bads losing their minds over evoker range, they should just arbitrarily reduce the range of other specs? Yeah that would go well.
It’s 25 yards, and yes they did.
There’s a mobility gain. It’s also not supposed to be “better” than other range just because it’s shorter range. It’s been highly competitive and performed well.
In what world do you think a spec just being able to do more damage than anyone else because of range makes any sense? That would completely break the top end of the game.
Do melee have innately more potential throughput because they’re short range?
Just because you’re on the struggle bus figuring out the spec doesn’t mean anything has “failed”. By all measurable performance statistics, it’s clearly been a success.
BM hunters should have less though. So mobility or lack of range should come with a dps tax/boost. Makes no sense to equalize patchwork if some are given higher uptime but others are not.
Argument for melee doing more - you can’t bring too many of them.
Historically, they sort of do.
I agree that they’ve gotten way too favorable of a tuning situation in this expansion though.
Just because it’s different than every other caster doesn’t mean it’s a flaw or failed design. If they increase our range, they’re going to cut our mobility to compensate, and idk about any of you but being just another turret isn’t appealing design for a dragon with wings to me. The entire idea of the class is darting around using your wings while blasting enemies with breath attacks.
I understand people want increased range because it’s a caster, but the class was LITERALLY advertised as a mid range caster that can cast while moving; so why are you complaining when that’s not what it is after picking it up? If you think the class feels bad to play or harder to play because of the range, I’m sorry but it’s either a git gud situation or it’s not the class for you.
This is the million dollar question.
Likely, they thought it was going to be broken like other hero classes were on release, and when they realized they couldn’t just afk to top DPS they needed to point the blame somewhere other than themselves, and design is the easiest place.
In certain situations it can and does fail.
I ran a M+ Rise yesterday, and one of the dps trapped himself in sand puddles on Deios. He was surrounded and got stuck away from the group.
Would’ve been fine except our healer was a dracthyr and couldn’t reach him to heal. Any other healer could have.
And while yes this situation isn’t the norm, and in an ideal world it shouldn’t happen, it did. Mistakes get made in M+, and the Evoker was utterly powerless to do anything about it. All those mobility tools didn’t mean anything because she couldn’t reach him.
So yes, when the class works it works. But when it doesn’t, it falls flat completely. It has a weakness that is usually not an issue, but in those rare instances it is an issue, it’s a glaring one.
Personally I think the healer spec needs extra range the most. Being unable to quickly dispel or heal because you gotta figure out where someone is and use mobility to move toward them is a problem. It also forces your group to be unable to fully utilize their own range because they have to stay within yours. So it’s dragging down every other range it plays with.
But if getting down to specifics, healer misplays, has rewind as evoker. As disc priest? GOOD LUCK. Or even if other people misplay.
Also. one person so far way, heal them with temporal anomaly. Longest range heal.
the amount of people complaining about it since alpha along with what seems to be the #1 thing the community agrees on for a needed change would make it a failure
probably as well as this went which would again prove it was a failed attempt at something that didnt and shouldnt exist…
didnt say its suppose to be better than other range but it should have something to justify its short range
i dont think a spec should do more damage because its a shorter range but i also think a shorter range shouldnt exist unless 1 theres something to justify its short range and 2 more than 1 class is at this shorter range.
i dont struggle with the class. just because the range is a dumb decision that once again everyone seems to agree with outside a small minority doesnt mean im bad at it. if anything the range and the transmog problem is what prevents me from maining my evoker every season. its always so much fun to have to run in so much farther on pulls while everyone else is able to stay out in range and this elongated lizard with limited transmog that doesnt even have its tier set which is made exclusively for this race not be transmogable is just as dumb as the range limit if not more
People are fine reducing the range of specs by 35 yards (cause melee is like 5 yard range.) They did it to survival.
Wait, so you have this hot take about how the range “failed” and you literally haven’t even mained the class?
Lol, what?
These forums are something else.
I too stand 300 yards away from bosses before they’re pulled.
And need to burn 2 hover charges, and time spiral just to get in range.
(That means standing outside of the boss’s room.)
Just get summoned, 4head
I do main evoker and it hasn’t failed…
But it had to be dragged across the finish line the entire expansion, having already seen several drastic changes to talents and ability power, including nerfs to abilities that apparently overshot the intended mark.
It’s been a constant effort of trial and error to help the class reach the functional level it is at now and I suspect one of the outstanding issues that has yet to be definitively dealt with are the difficulties facing the class in both PvE encounter design and PvP imbalances. One of the very simplest methods of fixing all current and future problems lay squarely upon the changing the range restriction and boosting the low defensive capabilities that have plagued the class and raised the most ire amongst the players.
What encounters are you referencing (for DPS specs)?
see me not maining it isnt the same as the rest of you people not maining something. just cause it wasnt my main doesnt mean i didnt get my evoker aotc and go above 2k which is already more than the majority of the player base does. this season ive only run a 18 cause i havent run much in the way of keys but i have aotc and 471 ilvl
since it was to hard for you to understand… compared to range who doesnt need to be in near melee range before a pull evoker has to be way closer. for raids its not as bad as long as pugs arent those no pull timer suprise pulls but for keys if u get a tank that just chain pulls theres i end up having to move way more often than i would on any other caster
It’s not hard for me to understand being closer, it’s hard for me to understand why this is a pain point for you when you can literally just start closer to the boss. You’re not agroing the boss from 25 yards out.
so you missed the part where i explained why its annoying and just focused on the very begining then is what your saying?
