Shocking population numbers from retail (data inside)

Assuming OP’s data is somewhat correct, and there’s 27,939 total NA players (lets round up to an even 30,000), every one of those people would have to level over 50 new characters to level 120.

You can’t make a direct inference on total players from number of characters without any other information, but we both know that the average player isn’t leveling dozens of characters to 120 in 9 months.

there is another and better test!

just make a toon on every Server and just look for Players…… u wont see much

None of them will have perfect numbers… but they all show a LOT more activity than OP is claiming.

So find the one with the largest number of active characters, and use that as an upper bound.

No doubt that BfA WoW’s concurrent population has crashed after they released Classic… but I don’t think it’s plausible for it to be that low.

That would put it below MMORPGs that are considered dead or dying, such as TSW, SW:TOR and GW2. That would be very surprising.

For all of retail’s downsides, it still has great raids so it should at least keep that part of its community logging back in.

So really 3 people, and if they delete their characters then that’s ridiculous

Retail isn’t going anywhere, the ones who are still playing aren’t on the forums

And if you read the rest of my reply you’d understand that it’s actually more after the scan was completed

That is an awful, awful “test”. I can walk down my street and see no people, does that mean I’m alone in my city?

why ashamed? it’s extremely healthy. It’s obvious you have no clue at all, because Frostmourne’s total population is just over 500,000. Oh and that was an off peak measurement something you quite clearly didn’t read.

but i dont see much activity ingame, so the numbers of op could be Right!

i mean like every retail Player i met so far told me their retail Servers are dead or their guilds Arent able to raid anymore because their members dont play anymore or rerolld on classic! so i guess the numbers arent that far from the truth^^

u wanna tell me that there is a Server in the mmorpg world that can run 500k Players?

pls my friend, eve online is the only mmorpg atm that is running a hardcore mega Server and even their Server is capd at 100k Players! 500k with a Client that doesnt even allow for City Raids with more than 80-100players before crashing the Server… pls just stop it

Sorry. Your anecdote doesn’t override data.

so the data will help dead retail guilds to form up a raid? then i dont understand why so many retailer are crying About their dead Servers in our classic ingame Chat :DDDD

Since the data points are players… yes.

and pigs can fly xDD

If you want to reject the data, then why are we even having this conversation?

It’s you trolls with your delusions that are the problem here, retail is not in anyway ‘dead’ it’s hilarious that you think it is

Who cares?

All this proves is sheep will gather and follow whatever is trendy.

I wish a bunch of people who just came to blow up streaming or because it’s the “latest thing” would just go on to whatever they were doing before.

Since Blizzard obviously is cheap and won’t up the servers to handle all the people, my only hope is that people lose interest, cause you know Activi$ion isn’t spending a dime to fix this, and Blizzard seems enslaved to them.

500,000 Population, you sure are some kind of special.
