Also, this statement certainly seems to indicate that you want sharding to be part of Classic.

For the record, though, do you want sharding in Classic (even in a “limited manner”) or do you want Classic to have no sharding, whatsoever.

You cannot have it both ways. Wanting sharding to be used in a limited manner may not be wanting sharding for the entire game, but it IS wanting it to be part of Classic.

It’s not a matter of wanting sharding, people want a smooth enjoyable launch. If sharding ends up being the way they go with that fine. Dynamic spawn rates, shared tags, extra servers with mergers later I’m sure there’s other ways to accomplish it.

Go back and read anyone of the numerous threads about the game cancer that is sharding. You will see numerous suggestions that would not require the artificial segregation of a server’s population using a means that even Blizzard acknowledges is totally antithetical to vanilla.

Yes I listed 3 common suggestions other than sharding, all of which have their own particular issues and have been whined about as well.

You just did. Refusal to give a direct answer would seem to indicate to anyone with half a brain that you want sharding to be part of Classic in some form.

The only “issues” those suggestions have is that those with that instant "figure of speech, not literally “instant”), convenience oriented mindset do not feel that those suggestions sufficiently cater to them and their desire for convenience.

Then perhaps you should go read those other threads as people have raised plenty of other issues besides your weird theory that the only thing people want is to be alone in the world. Something which sharding also doesn’t create.

Incorrect. Ion even said their plan is to use it for launch in a ‘limited’ and ‘time limited’ for the first couple weeks, because they realize that if you are farming there needs to be one node and if you are fighting for a mob there needs to be only one mob. I mean I suppose if you really want to stretch their words and intentionally take words out of their mouth you can. But it is at the very least heavily, HEAVILY implied it is used from levels 1-10 for the first couple weeks.

At worst we are going to have sharding for launch and that’s it. The Devs understand that the community as a whole doesn’t want sharding. They have made that very clear. They literally have #No Changes on their office black/white boards.

Your going to have it for a lot longer. Once they turn it on it isnt going anywhere, the limits might be adjusted as to when it kicks on but it isn’t going anywhere.

If there is anything we need to be worried about, in my opinion, it is loot trading. If you have a level head and you watched blizzcon you should have 100% walked away from that feeling like they have listened and they are trying every little thing to make it as close to vanilla as possible. Except for loot trading. Sharding for launch? They already explained their plan and yeah it isn’t going to be fun or desired by most but here is the thing…it is temporary. If you don’t believe it will be temporary or don’t trust blizzard that is pure speculation and shouldn’t be considered as an actual threat until they are actually showing signs of lying or changing their stance.

But loot trading, they HAVE said that this is going to be a permanent thing and it is the most glaring change throughout everything we know as of right now and quite frankly I think we need to be focusing on that. You are wasting your time crying about sharding as of right now and I think we need to be trying to get rid of loot trading.
