What streamers? Most of the streamers I see talk about classic have no idea whats actually going to happen with it specifically. Reddit for sure barely talks about stuff like that because they are too busy memeing or talking about ‘nuances’ in classic.
This is the only spot I actually saw discussion over more phases for content.
Fear is the first step towards Nihilism, after you have become fearful for so long you forget what you where fearful about and then you no longer defend what you cared for. If you destroy that which is threatening than you will never have to be fearful or have to worry about it down the road.
Can’t find where Laeric said that there is no solution but it is completely true. Sharding doesn’t solve anything and either way the launch will be rough. Avoiding use a system that should not be in the game is a more beneficial approach.
solution is not queues and its not sharding. solution is replicas of the server in question, when the server gets too full, with the understanding they will be re-merged with the server proper when the population evens out. if given a number to identify it, friends can both go to the same one. but with normal sharding, they dont ask or identify, they just whisk you off to a new, unidentified shard
Or, after a period of time you learn that you don’t need to be afraid of what you were afraid of. Like the dark. Once you learn monsters aren’t hiding in the shadows and it’s just your over active imagination, or in this case, we see evidence that Blizzard isn’t doing more than sharding the starting zone, you stop fearing the thing.
Not allowing for a gateway into sharding in the future. The more positive that view is on it in that temporary situation, the positive the view will be on it down the road. The RP server players will give you a nice breakdown of what happened with sharding for them. They heard the same damn story you are reciting to me from Blizzed.
I hope you realize you are literally just describing sharding but on a much larger scale. You are asking for sharding for a longer term and then squeeze everybody together.
Nope, that’s not a real issue. If blizzard did sharding later on it would have nothing to do with whether or not is was used at launch. This is a very ignorant thought.
Oh you mean the part where blizzard literally told them exactly how their servers are going to be sharded, and then they freaked out when blizzard did EXACTLY what they told them they were going to do?
Let me guess you aren’t informed on this subject either.
correct but separated on the server list so your friends/family can find ya.
the demo depicted a bunch of players in duelling area in front of ogrimmar. a couple players duel each other and the person recording it decides to duel the winner but before he can accept the challenge the guy is phased to a new shard… in the middle of a challenge, in the dueling area. thats not functional.
Go back in time and tell the Natives that where attempting to hold land that the colonists will eventually give them reservations and casino rights in a few hundred years. I can assure you that if they where complacent they wouldn’t have crap right now. The only reason why the Native population is not just forgotten groups is because they managed to hold off European colonists as well as they did. You would be awful in any position that determined foreign policy. You would just be a grim reaper.
Something to note about the fear of using sharding later on: It would be pretty trivial for Blizzard to add sharding to the servers even if they didn’t use it at launch. They already have the technology to do it.
While I would like to hear their thoughts on the AQ opening, as that is a point of server stability, if you’re that untrusting of Blizzard then them not having sharding at launch really shouldn’t allay your fears.
It’s temporary. Quit acting like this is a forever thing. So you got kicked out of one duel at level 8 the first week you started playing. okay?
Also, you do know that you can invite people/talk to people/group with people in a sharded world right? If you join a server that is going to be sharded you can say ‘invite Hyperspace’ and you are now in the same shard.
So your solution is to do the exact same thing sharding does, but then restrict any and all communication to others on a seperate shard of your server? That’s… just think about that for a second dude lol
new players attracted by the hype would think the game is broken or that the guy logged out on them, ran like a coward. it’s not a viable solution for a mmo
That’s not what I said kiddo. I said blizzard using sharding at launch doesn’t like ‘unlock’ their ability to do it later. If they want to do it later, they are going to do it with or without sharding at launch.
You mean exactly like they said it was going to work? They basically said ‘we will shard when we want to if it needs it’. And people like you are surprised when they do it lol.
Thank god someone gets it. Holy damn hell. Once you have given up on something it’s harder to get it back than if you never lost it in the first place. Give a single gun right that has been taken from americans and was given back. Of all the stupid policy on wrist straps, stocks, magazines, ammunition, etc… Not a single damn thing that has been implimented to restrict has ever been able to be removed.
THEY WILL TAKE IT PIECE BY PIECE UNTIL YOU HAVE NOTHING.
