What is more interesting than chang or no change is that all these people that said they would never play classic now have an overwhelming interest in making the game into what they think it should be. Seems like its well they got thier classic lets do whatever we can to disrupt the game, not because generally care about classic but because its we think we should have a say even though we might only log in for a week and never return !! Maybe you all should just go back to Blizzards version of Fortnight and clutter the forums there with your trash. Enjoy your version of the game and let others enjoy the version they like. Two seperate games for different interest.
And how about coexisting and building relationships?
Personally I would like this addon to be a part of the game. If it’s banned, it doesn’t change a thing for me.
I’ve already raided in vanilla. I did the whole community guild capital raids, world pvp.
Now, I’m not coming back to these activities. I just want to have a stable environment where my progress s not erased by Blizzard every couple of months.
I’ll play solo, I won’t bother other people. I’ll just level peacefully (or not) my toon.
Sometimes I’ll have quests for DM/others. I’ll need a group. I’m too old to spend 3 hours spamming a channel for that. So if I can’t just post ONCE my group announcement, I guess I’ll just avoid group quests (Well, I’ll probably solo mnost of world group quests anyway. But not dungeons)
So if Blizz allow this addon : GREAT ! I’ll be running some dungeons !
If not : Well, maybe occasionally I’ll see some one looking for a tank in /1 and decide to join
Both ways, I’ll be having a blast.
I’m definitely going to use this addon. At first I was just thinking about it as a laugh after seeing the reaction of the guy in the video and the way he said “and I’m in a group” like someone just ran over his dog. I became certain when I saw the post comparing it to using mustard gas. No problem if Blizzard neutralizes it but I just can’t resist helping people work themselves into hysterics when they get this bent out of shape if I can. It’s a foible I have which I’m not proud of and occasionally gets me into trouble.
I understand everyones point of view on this and co existing should be no problem there is BFA and now classic. The problem is Blizzard rules and ToS are very vague and leave alot open to intepitation. So instead of having a case of choosing between two different games everyone insist on getting the changes they want in order to play the way they want. So this really isnt so much a conversation about what should and shouldn’t be as it is an argument because everyone feels thier opinion is right. They feel this way because so much was taken for granted and not actually put into place. Blizz gave us classic as we asked for it !! Yea. Blizz then dropped the ball and just assumed it was a small group that had interest, so instead of putting ToS in place that was perfectly clear in regards to addons, Gold trading and so on its now all a hot topic on both side of the spectrum.
I like you am going to enjoy the things I missed the 1st time around and wish you and everyone regardless of opinions the best game experince
Hell yeah, f*** this addon. It’s almost as if the LFG addon released way back in July, 12, 2004 never existed!!!
Absolutely outrageous!!

Excellent.
This addon scans the chat looking for key phrases such as “LFM” “LF3M” as well as dungeon names and common abbreviations such as DM and VC for The Deadmines.
If you type “L F 3 M for DM” how ever the addon will not pick up that you are advertising for a group.
If you type “LF3M for deadmine” your advertisement will get picked up by the addon but because deadmine is not on the current list of phrases your ad will be picked up but will not be placed in “The Deadmines” category instead it will end up in the “custom” category still making the addon less effective.
There is a bit of code that I found that I thought was a bit funny but will also insure that your group is not listed in the addon. If you type “LF3M Deadmines #noclassiclfg” your ad will also not show up in the addon.
I expect that the dev of the addon will make changes to the list of key phrases the addon is looking for. But at least doing these things currently works and people will have to keep updating the addon as gamers adjust to hide their groups from the addon.
GLHF
I saw the addon in action, I take back what I said about this addon being ok. It’s 100% opposite what the addon maker said it does. It has a LOT of automation in it.
Good explanation, if the players still have to whisper you then the addon itself isn’t really doing anything. Not pulling from a random pool of players that also have the addon it’s just inviting from chat. Basically just a lazy addon and clickbait scare.
I hate explain jokes, so I won’t.
However, have you ever noticed how the word costumers is a letter swap away from customers? No, neither had I.
Real life QoL stuff is good because it help you to have more free time to do things that you like (such as playing video games).
QoL in games help you do things faster to have free time to…? If you’re playing a game, it means you want to spend your time in it, not make your time playing shorter.
Think of both extremes where in one you have to understand how to code to play and the other you press one button and the game play itself. Do human interaticon is what i call “balanced” for everyone to play.
This addon doesn’t play for me, it just opens my time up for more social interaction in groups. How is that a bad thing?
And as retail has shown us, too many QoL changes make people finish all content too fast then complain they have nothing to do.
Have you played retail last years? Ppl hit lfg button, storm the way through the dungeon and then everyone quit with no word said. Basicaly the same as playing with a NPC.
Amen.
I have to highlight this as that’s one of the things about WoW that changed that I hate.
Back in vanilla, people greeted you regularly. People talked and interacted.
Retail, most dungeons, you could be playing with robots and wouldn’t know the difference.
Yes, I’ve played every expansion since 2004.
I’m not worried about that happening, A, the content is way harder in classic, communication will be just as vital and important whether you join a group through the UI or whispers.
Having played since 2004, I understand the concern of easy epics, cross realm nonsense making relationships meaningless etc. none of those concerns can be impacted by this addon.
Social interaction in vanilla comes from within a group, not so much outside the group. You get to know people by doing quests and dungeons when you are in groups, how does this addon change that?
Multiple points here :
First, on retail you are auto ported to entrance.
Normal and heroic is so brainless so you can’t die: No need for communication.
In M+ : Time is everything, so you don’t have time for communication.
You have unlimited resources on most classes: No need for pauses. Even healers are not OOM often. On my mage, I honestly don’t even know how much mana I have. Really. 0 idea. I can only be OOM by using spellsteal too much.
This addon doesn’t add these “features”
This addon allows for you to keep playing while looking for a group. Now the only downside I can see :
It will be harder for “less wanted” classes to find a group. When you have 5 mages and 3 rogues in waitlist, why bother with a druid or pally or shaman ?
The content is easy and very casual friendly. Raids boss mechanics are even simpler than LFR.
It’s not “just this” or “just that” and it wasn’t in a day that social interaciton died in WoW, it was “bite by bite” and LFG add on is the 1st “bite”
This is false tho.
Compare AD M+10 (No timer) (Which for me is originaly designed difficulty) to Scholomance and see which has more mechanics, CC etc.
Yes people are rolling on M10 by overgearing it. Try it with ilvl 375-380 group and all of the sudden you have communication, you have CC, people drink between fights.
As i just said, it’s not something that we can point and blame. There’s probally thousand factors to consider. And everytime you simplify things, you get many human interaction out of the way
