Because you had to interact with that person to invite them, maybe ask what class or spec they were, if there was any gear they wanted. Instead of treating them like a bot by using an addon. Then we’re back at Retail.

Actually that’s quite how that particular add on works. It’s like a bulletin board, you will need to communicate with the party. It can also post your listing in your choice of chat channel.

Calling these addons LFG is an attempt to demonize the addon - hyperbole.

The addon is a chat parser. Organize chat spam into usable formats for people looking to group.

Dude I am not advocating this but, its not going to teleport you to the dungeon. Back in the day some people used Call To Arms and basically if you LFG’d in chat it would capture that and throw group advertisements in the Call To Arms window. It is nothing new for forming groups.

I think this is the main problem. If a lot of people use it, they won’t be advertising in chat.

You should read up on the add on first.

Pretty sure Blizzard has already stated they would not allow those to be used, so if they do put it out I’d look for it to be broken pretty quickly

I cant find it at the moment, but there was a post from the addon creator that went into specifics.

You can read about exactly how it works on the download page. All it’s doing is parsing chat messages and formatting them into a more usable view. It also sends notifications into public channels so anyone can see them.

What about using the “acution” house to buy items outright? That’s automated. People rarely, if ever, use the “auction” portion of this. They just buy the item, with no communication, and pick it up from the mailbox.

Besides - there will still be very little interaction, and no one really cares what items someone needs from a dungeon.
