Ultimately the problem still is that Avoidance is still the primary basis for why you can tank at all.

…uhh do you mean for Shaman? As in the the only reason they manage to not go splat every pull is because sometimes they Dodge things that would kill them?

5/5 Toughness gives 10% more Stamina.

It would need to be a lot more than this since they are lacking so much on Armor. The EH gulf between Shaman and Warriors (the Tank with the least EH scaling), is fairly substantial between Plate Armor w/Toughness, Defensive Stance, and Vitality.

2/2 Guardian Totems causes Stoneskin Totem to reduce damage taken by 10%. Attack Speed is slowed by 10%. Only affects the Shaman.

Ultimately, Stoneskin would be turned into a “tank” totem. You would put it down and it would act like a pseudo-Defensive Stance for the Shaman.

As it stands, Stoneskin Totem only ever gets used if you happen to have more than one Shaman in a group. Even then, the Damage Reduction it gives right now comes before armor reduction.

In Wrath, at least they changed it to mimic Devotion Aura where it gives Armor.

True, but you could try to adjust the values through talents. Naturally, I’d tie this to shield use. Have 5/5 Shield Specialization increase your chance to block by 5% and also increase the armor provided by your shield to compensate for your mail armor.

Just an idea. Would love to be able to edit and experiment with stuff like this in reality.

Pointing out that its not tanking does not mean I care if they do it. More power to them if its fun, lord knows TbC is boring as hell otherwise.

By the way, Caperfin, I’m sorry to say you had a great opportunity to prove something before Phase 2 hit. You had quite a few months of time to do a 2/2 Gruul’s and 1/1 Magtheridon run. Never did it. Nobody did.

Nerfs are in now and you’ll never get that opportunity again. Ever. You had four months to show every naysayer what’s what but that never happened. 11/11 Karazhan is okay, but that should have been done within the first two months. After that y’all should have pushed for a Gruul or Mag kill and a video to follow.

This is the problem–I don’t think you could. Either the drive isn’t there or it just wasn’t possible.

It is possible. There is no talent limitation or huge impasse, it’s literally the following: Be a shaman. Be a good Shaman tank. Be in a guild that is accepting of you tanking.
Even someone as well known as me had sometime trouble finding people who are accepting of me being tank.

I don’t see how that is going to translate to a 25 man without the weirdest comp ever, let alone him staying alive against HK, Gruul, or Mag.

It would almost be the same as a warrior tank group during guild raid progression…
warlock, warrior tank, shaman tank, paladin (heal or tank), druid (heal or tank) and preferably someone should be wearing Thick Felsteel.

Can you explain how when Phase 2 has hit and nerfs are in?

How are you going to retroactively prove Shamans are capable of tanking Gruul or Mag without nerfs now?
