Shaman Tanks Karazhan 11/11 World First

So are logical fallacies! This is fun!

Phew. Glad you finally conceded. This was starting to get boring

See you in the next great Internet Debate!

Wait, are you saying tanks need to be healed in order to survive?! :scream:

Correct. Tanking is a role, not a class. Warlocks get to tank some stuff later on too, like Lethoras and Illidan, lest anyone forget.

In WoW Classic, was in a raid where two Warriors died to Onyxia around 5% of her health before she switched aggro to a Rogue. Rogue popped evasion and (somehow) managed to dodge everything else naturally before the rest of the DPS eventually downed her. During those last few seconds, that Rogue tanked Onyxia. You can’t tell me anything other than that happened.

So, how much is “a lot” then? Your assertion implies there’s a particular number that must be reached. If so, who imposes that number?

Doesn’t that also become a thing later on? Rogues tanking Heroics or even Zul’Aman with avoidance gear?

I mean, the only reason I have any of the gear I have is because it dropped from bosses we killed. But that loot is on an RNG table anyway, so technically nobody can be anything sufficient unless RNG makes you that way. :man_shrugging:

Got’em!

Just so every Shaman is aware, a lot of Resilience Gear will become avialable for purchase from various quartermasters. In case you want to try out tanking as a Shaman, you can try to stack enough Resilience to become un-crittable.

Fasc has moved the goalposts so much they aren’t even in the same sport anymore.

Imagine the hubris required to believe that he is even remotely correct about the nonsense he’s arguing in this thread
astronomical.

I bet he would say my voidwalker isn’t a tank even though he tanked Sartharion 3D back in the day. The audacity!

Why wouldn’t I? It hit all the parameters of a Tank:

  1. Held aggro
  2. Survived the burst thresholds
  3. Survived the sustained damage
  4. Kept the boss properly positioned

If you actually read you’d understand I don’t say this isn’t Tanking, anymore than a Rogue with 100% avoidance.

It needed a hunter to misdirect it though, and it didn’t even try to avoid the lava waves.

He didn’t even farm his gear! I had to re gem all my stuff for stamina to get his health pool high enough.

and? Threat only matters if you have a timer you need to avoid colliding with (enrage timer, too many adds up, etc). The use of a Voidwalker eased that threat concern entirely since the only problem in Sarth3D was getting drakes down fast enough before Sarth one-shot the Tank with his breath. Since the Voidwalker could eat the breath while Sarth was fully empowered, no one needed to go hard and you weren’t DPSing Sarth anyway.

If you don’t have to, why would you? If I had an innate massive AoE damage reduction I’d have ate them too, as it eliminates even the slight repositioning requirement that can get someone cleaved or breathed on.

and?

You mean you needed to actually gear appropriately for EH? Gee
sounds like you had to actually hit a specific threshold for your Voidwalker to be a Tank.

Yeah I did all the work for that lazy blueberry. Its ok hes my boi though.

Right, and until Blizzard specifically nerfed pet supremacy regarding AoE, and also made sure the kill-the-tank mechanics were all single target, a Voidwalker was probably the best Tank for Sarth3D, followed by DKs, then Druids, and then further down Paladins, and then much further down (if at all possible at the time) Warriors.

I am surprised that this is still going on.

At least he doesn’t make outrageous comparisons to Sharia Law when he disagrees with people. Like someone else on these forums has done.

HA!

Yea you are. Lol. I don’t see why you cant grasp that fact.
Evasion tanking is a form of tanking where all your doing is hoping that the boss keeps missing you. Its still called tanking.

Because literally anyone can hope to have the next hit be Dodged, Parried, or Miss. A DPS does this every time they pull aggro and the mob takes a swing at them. According to you, that break away and swing are also “tanking”.

If you can only lower the threshold of Tanking so far that it literally captures every single player in every single run doing literally anything
 provided the mob dies
then Tanking ceases to matter as a distinction, and Tanking is just synonymous with Playing-the-Gameℱ

We fundamentally disagree. As do you and most of the people in the thread. You also disagree with the rpg definition of a “tank”

Its fine. It just shows your insecurities as a tank.
Don’t worry they wont be taking your raid spot.

If your definition of a “Tank” includes everyone at all times, you don’t have a definition.

Ad hom does not an argument make.
