isnt it enough that you’re a living meme on our server, now you have to become on on the wow forums aswell? i hate meta slaving as much as the next person, and im a fanboy of the enhance shaman class, but this is mental illness, projected onto a group of other people, that actively hurts their gaming experience, stop it bro, shaman tanking was never viable and never will be outside of niche moments when everythings going to hell because the real tanks died.
OCE’s a small place, he wanted to expand to NA too.
Vihara speaks from experience…
I have multiple Illidan kills lol… i main prot pal soooo.
I could still tank the fire ele with a shaman if i had one kitted out.
Neat, I don’t believe you.
LOL no you couldn’t.
I’m very much a “do what you want” type person in that I don’t care if shammies want to tank as long as it’s fun for them and their raid group, in fact, I’d say it’s kind of interesting to see, but what really stuck out with this guy is when he started calling his old guild and his server bad when he’s the one that wants to go against the grain. These people have been accommodating his unusual playstyle. Instead of him being grateful for people adapting to him and going along with what he wants he’s attacking others when that fails. Attacking the healers who have been keeping him up and whoever else.
It’s like come on, it’s not everyone elses fault all the time.
I bet you can tank a Flame of Azzinoth! Just get enough resistance, tank the 2nd kill order one and everything would probably go just fine.
Aka: No way you can pump the threat needed like a real tank, you need a 15 second lead or your raid will rip off you.
That’s why they tank the 2nd Flame. Not many raids killing the first one in 15 seconds!
Healers would pull off the Shaman. Priests with Salv can easily hit 10-12k very quickly and it just keeps climbing. Even if Hit-capped, the Shaman’s biggest threat source is from Frost Shock and if that resists, the Healers can’t not heal the incoming AoE, and unlike the real Tanks the Shaman can’t just Taunt/Growl to snag it back. Never mind the fact that you have to stack so much defensive gear while wearing full FR that you have very very very little in the way of offensive stats.
Even should a Shaman get full access to S3 Arena gear, weapons and shoulders included, that Shaman has to wear a Defense or Resilience piece in every slot but a pair of trinkets just to stay uncrittable and at minimum FR requirements. There’s no Spell Hit without gems/enchants at this point, less than 3% Melee Hit, no Expertise, zero Spell Crit rating (using the Enhance PvP set), barely 10% Melee Crit… it is just abysmal.
Any gem you put towards Spell Hit or Hit is a gem not being put towards much needed Stamina. The set above on a Tauren is only starting you at a bit over 10k unbuffed. It is possible to get a Tauren Shaman beefy enough with full buffs and absurd stacking like Blood Pact and Commanding Shout to get close to 19k… but that same Shaman has no threat.
It just doesn’t work.
Our Spriest was doing both, and ripped off the paladin tanking the 2nd Flame.
The idea a Sham could do it, and not simply be holding back the raid, is not just unlikely, it’s obnoxiously selfish.
Shaman would get 2 shot by a flame at capped FR lol. Pls just stop.
I’m sure that the shaman could hold the threat off the healers.
If a geared shaman can hold a boss off from dps there won’t be an issue (maybe one at pull) holding the 2nd add. Once they get a good lead they’ll be fine.
You can solo tank Illidan. The fight is a joke.
Jeff Goldblum said it perfectly in Jurassic Park “YEAH, BUT YOUR SCIENTISTS WERE SO PREOCCUPIED WITH WHETHER OR NOT THEY COULD THAT THEY DIDN’T STOP TO THINK IF THEY SHOULD.”
Sure, certain classes can do things they weren’t designed to, but why?
I’m sure you’re wrong. A parry/dodge string against an elemental means one of the Priests is getting aggro, and that’s while I’m wearing far more offensive gear than a Shaman could ever get away with, and we both know that Druids can handily out-threat a Shaman.
They can’t, and in this case they’d be wearing next to none of their threat gear.
At best you can duo Tank Illidan, one Druid for both Flames of Azzinoth, and a Warrior or Paladin for the boss, with enough DPS to actually skip the demon phase.
He is easy, but you aren’t speaking as if you experience it at TBCC levels.

Interesting, death came really close quite a few times. That’s nicely done by Celyss.
I personally would not care to do that, but definitely a nice flex by the tank and even more so the healers.
Yeah that’s intense.
His build was 0/40/21 for the fight and he had 229 base FR and he blew a Nightmare seed and his trinket for more health… cutting it suuuuper close.
