Now that the Zandalari have been released and out for a little while, I am wondering what the race preferences are for shaman now. I am currently looking into making a shaman, but I am not sure if I am going to go for personal preference of orc/goblin or possible meta options for better parses.
I am wondering how the shaman community feels about this topic and wanted to get some feedback on the race preferences that you guys might have and why.
Personally love goblin for gust of win… I mean rocket jump. That missed mobility is a crutch I can’t go without
I feel the same way about enhance and bullrush from hm tauren
Seconded, Teeko. Bull Rush is a great racial and the HM heritage armor really fits the shaman aesthetic.
Was Mag’har for awhile, but now that im exalted with Thunderbluff, its tauren time baby.
Plus i like the extra crit damage and warstomp.
I like Mag’har just for how OG it feels. But Dank Iron Dwarf is definitely the coolest alli shaman race.
Depends a bit on what spec your going for. I Like Troll racials for Enh. Goblin is good too. But I’m probably gonna change to Zandalari cause they look so cool. Tauren is really good for Ele.

Definitely either Goblin or HM Tauren, still remember all the times a lack of mobility made me died in Uldir, especially Fetid Devourer’s rng breath.
As elemental I love being dwarf. Stone Form stacks well with my one crappy defensive, and 2% extra crit damage is great considering most of my hits are crits.

HM tauren is amazing for the rush ( I never needed/used the gust talent as resto before tbh because GW was fast enough but coming from a Monk it’s nice ) Also functions as an interrupt for grouped up spellcasters.
Very useful ability with stun totem and just fun to use in ghost wolf to cross gaps.
Normal Tauren smash is nice and crit. Id say just pick up HM tauren tbh.
Troll/Orc ( regular ones ) both have the a racial on use buff.
Pandaren get the 2xfood buff and from what remember before it’s always nice to shifting around a few % of secondaries or mainstat from food/feasts. The panda stun can be used tactically too to mess up casting but meh.
Havent tried others. People love goblin too for the jump but I cant get past how bad they look. Same for both dwarves lol.
i often find myself trying to decide on what race of shaman i’d better, because it’s not easy for me, as i don’t really like any of the available races for shaman, despite my enjoyment of the class.
Male orcs and Tauren and Pandaren are too bulky.
Female orcs are almost okay, except armor just sits really wierd on them, and always has. It’s hard to make a good transmog. Especially since mail is the ugliest armor class.
Female Tauren and Pandaren look kind of dopey.
Goblins look nice, but are too short to be enjoyable for me. (Camera resting almost on the floor is a turnoff)
Male trolls look too awkward.
Female trolls have some funky animations, especially shaman combat pose. What that spine do.
I’d probably like zandalari, but they’re just too huge for me. It’s immersion breaking for me to be walking around trying to quest when i am a literal giant among men. They stick out like a sore thumb. If they had left them at night elf height like they were in beta, i’d be more about them.
I actually do like the way female dwarves look, but i don’t care for alliance.

On horde, Goblin and HM are amazing for the long CD Gust of Wind replacements.
On Alliance, the draenei look too pretty to pass up.
I’m still partial to draenei. /waggle
Seriously though, I like Gift of the Naaru a lot. It’s saved my or someone else’s bacon too many times to count.
Just race changed from female Draenei to male Dwarf. I prefer the Dwarf by a large margin on armor looks alone already.

That is all. The alliance factions shouldn’t even get shaman as far as I’m concerned, just like horde Shouldn’t get Paladin.
But that’s a personal opinion that isn’t meant to be “the only way”.
Finally someone who shares my opinion. And i say this as someone with a dwarf shaman alt lul.
