I plan on leveling in prepatch a shaman with a friend who is leveling a ret pally. I know enhance is probably the best leveling spec, but would i be able to heal 5 mans as enhance? Would i have an easier time leveling Elemental?
The general rule of thumb is to level as Enhance, then respec to Elemental at 40, but things change a bit with the new talent trees.
Healing shouldnt be an issue that early on regardless of spec. I leveled as resto and it was not fun, but it will make healing dungeons go slightly better.

The current way of doing things is Enhancement to 40, then respec Elemental and stack spell damage. That said TBC nerfs how well Lightning Bolt scales with spell damage so stacking it wont be quite as effective.
Healing dungeons is doable in any spec just as long as you keep a set of int heavy gear at the low levels.
Personally leveling a Shaman right now, I find Elemental to be more enjoyable to play than Enhancement.
I find that, for myself, I too enjoy leveling Elemental more, but I can see from 1-40 why enhancement is the better choice.
Yeah I started out trying to be Elemental but you’re just a weaker Enhancement Shaman until you get certain talents.
Then you hit 40 and can just delete mobs with Elemental Mastery -> Chain Lightning - > Earth Shock.

Same experience here. It is a much slower slog until you can spec right. So as much as I enjoy Elemental, I cannot say it is the easiest way to get to 40.
I plan to start Enh till about 40ish, then ele, and then while in outland I might go full ele. Once max level I will decide on going ele or resto depending on what my guild needs most.

Yes, you can.
I was enhance to 51 or 52, Ele to 60. You dont need to be resto at all, as 30/0/21 is fine, unless you are doing actually challenging content, like Naxx.
Go elemental instead of enhance
Leveling as Ele is masochistic.
Enjoy chugging water.
You should be able to heal it as enhance with no issues.
Elemental and Enhance have their ups and downs. I prefer enhance, I hate elemental. Others prefer the opposite. All depends on what you like to do.
Play whatever you want. Id recommend enhance/resto or ele/resto.
You can easily heal anything as long as you have the gear honestly.
If youre leveling with a friend id do the ele resto so you keep the same stats.
Even with the water you still outpace enhance after level 40ish
Sure, I can believe that, but it still feels terrible. 
I just never liked enhance so why play a spec I don’t like? Elemental will be harder until 40 but you can always just mage boost to 40 as elemental and continue your journey.
