Class tree problems:
Restrictiveness:
-Our class tree has way too many 2 pointers leading to an extremely restrictive tree for no reason. I’m happy with having to make choices, but in this case I’m missing 6-7 talents some of which I really need but can’t get because of how many 2 pointers we have that we also need to grab (Natures Fury and Brimming with Life for example). There was literally a blue post about this in DF or TWW where they said they dislike 2 point nodes and will be using them very sparingly, why did that randomly not apply here?
Defensives:
-We also have to talent into every single defensive we have unlike most other classes. We talent into Astral Shift and then again to make it a shorter CD. We talent into Earth Shield. We talent into Healing Stream totem. We talent into Earth Ele and (nerfed) Primordial Bond. To give an example of another class tree: Hunters get Exhil, Feign Death and Aspect of the Turtle basline with talents to improve them in the class tree (PvP talent for Feign Death) and they get Survival of the Fittest for free in their class tree. I know comparing like this isn’t a 1:1, but in this case I think its a valid comparison.
-Also, losing Ancestral Guidance in TWW, now Stone Bulwark Totem and 5% Damage Reduction from having an elemental out really hurts Enh/Ele as we now have less CDs overall to rotate through (which is fine if this was applied to every class in the game, but it was not) and they are all pretty long CDs. Earth ele 3 mins, Astral shift 1.5 mins talented (2 min baseline) and Burrow 2 mins if taken in PvP talents. We gained very little in return for losing a solid amount of defensives in both TWW and now Midnight. Maybe replace Stone Bulwark with a passive defensive talent ie Astral Shift gains 2 charges, or maybe buff Brimming with Life by buffing the stamina and adding an armor increase or physical damage reduction to it.
Utility:
-We also lost utility since Poison Cleansing Totem and Tremor Totem are now on the same node so we can’t have both anymore. Poison Cleansing should be a 30 second CD in PVP, not 2 minutes. Its our only main counter to rogues and was nerfed to a 2 min CD for PvE reasons. We also can’t reset Totem Cds anymore so this would be a good time to go back and look at previously nerfed Totems like Static Field Totem (PvP) and Poison Cleansing Totem
CC:
-All of our CC is talented, nothing baseline aside from Thunderstorm for Ele now if you count that as CC. Frost Shock (slow), Hex and Improved Hex, Cap Totem and Static Charge (2 pointer as well), Earthgrab Totem all talented. Lightning Lasso got thrown into PvP talents despite the fact our PvP talents are already crowded with things we really need ie Grounding Totem, Shamanism, Burrow so now in order to take Lasso we have to give up something we were able to have before alongside Lasso which feels awful. We actually have no baseline CC at all.

Good luck man. They are likely long past the point where you can still get changes that are more than bug fixes and % buffs…
I mean, MAGES might be able to, but not everyone else.

There are still talents in the class tree that are 99% useless for enhancement. Been that way since DF, 2 full expansions and going into a 3rd and still not fixed. Does any spec even use mana spring?
The tree has way too many QOL talents, that should be baseline, super niche utility that isn’t used 95% of the time, and filler talents that are simply better than nothing. With midnight now we have “Tax Talents” that on the surface are boring stat buffs, but the class is balanced around having them so you’re essentially forced to take them to be whole. Even if you don’t think they are a tax, we can all agree they are lazy and boring.
Shaman class tree is just a garbage fire.

Class tree still being filled with 2 pointers like this feels terrible. Is it really going live like this? We have 4 months of beta and this is the best we could do?
Instead of 2 pointers, add more talents to the tree so there’s more choices to make without feeling like we are arbitrarily restricted. Nature’s Fury and Brimming with Life were 1 point nodes in TWW that now are randomly 2 pointers, that feels really bad.
Also, please add some survivability/defense to the class tree. Add some %armor to Brimming with Life. Maybe move Burrow into the class tree as well to give Shamans an extra CD since we really only have Astral Shift and a very nerfed Earth Ele at this point.
Shaman has relatively poor CC and now its utility isn’t even that amazing since our totems took a huge hit with Totemic Recall getting removed and totem CDs have not been adjusted for that ie Poison Cleansing is still 2 mins, Static Field Totem is still 1.5m, etc. Totems were adjusted based on the fact we could reset them, now we cannot. It’d be nice if we could at least have decent survivability.

The shaman class in general needs help. Resto looks bad in all forms of content. Ele and enhance look mid in M+ and PVP. Ele might be good in raid. Overall Midnight doesn’t look good for shaman.

Yeah it really doesn’t look great. I mean I like the way enh plays a lot I find it very fun and I also enjoy Ele it just needs Flame Shock back and its great (albeit a bit bland).
The reason I’m worried is largely because tuning doesn’t solve the issues ele/enh has especially in PvP and possibly even in PvE.
The only way tuning solves the issues in PvP for enh/ele is if they are doing ridiculous amounts of damage which isn’t healthy for the game. They need more survivability whether its in the form of active or passive mitigation. My ideal scenario is Brimming with Life gets %armor attached to it and Raging Maelstrom for enh gets the nerf reverted. If that still isn’t enough then Burrow should just move to the class tree in place of Stone Bulwark Totem.
The fact we’ve gone the entire beta without defensive buffs for shaman is crazy. We’ve actually only gotten nerfs lol. I’m not counting the buffs they did to all hybird specs either as that was not Shaman specific and Enh got hit with a big nerf right after. They’re going to wait until people get frustrated with being at risk of dying constantly in PvE and being trained non stop in PvP which will be too late because people will have dropped Shaman by then.
