*** Developers’ notes: We’re aiming to add more interesting decisions to Restoration which has felt lacking in Midnight as well as addressing a core talent issue pushing gameplay towards a repetitive playstyle. To accomplish this, we’re returning Tidal Waves to the talent tree, updating Ascendance with a different set of mechanics, and removing Whispering Waves. We feel this will be more exciting to play with and prevent current and future issues with Whispering Waves pushing gameplay too far towards an unfun playstyle. Anyway, should Enhancement just be redesigned to function similarly to how Seals worked for Paladins? Should your weapon imbues be 1 minute buffs that change your abilities for a while, or should Windfury Weapon change your action bar into specific nature and wind abilities that cycle out when you put on Flametongue or Rockbiter or Earthliving?

Would that give Shamans a fourth spec without needing a fourth spec?

  • Windfury Weapon - new action bar - change Stormstrike to Wind Lash, change Lava Lash to… Cirrus Lash? Cirrus Whip? Applies a nature debuff to frontal cone, or proximity nature damage, like how Remorseless Winter worked. Either reduced Wind Shear CD or increased lockout by 1 second. Crash Lightning, Doom Winds. Windfury Totem comes back, specific for this imbue

  • Flametongue Weapon - new bar - change Stormstrike to Unleashed Flame, make it reduce stat every time it lands and have that debuff stack with each hit. Maybe reduced armor and stamina, maybe reduced movement speed, maybe just increasing fire and elemental damage with each hit, 6%, 12%, 24%. The longer you fight the Flametongue Shaman the more you wear down. Lava Lash stays here, still applies Flame Shock debuff, still spreads flame shock. No nature buffs, but Sunder is exclusive to this imbue and it incapacitates again. If the reduced movement is what works there then magma pools when Shaman stands still, like how Deep Roots legendary worked in Legion. Or maybe just leaves a trail for a short time, like what Windwalkers had, but a damage debuff version. Totem of Wrath comes back, or even just a very strong Searing Totem, which I do miss.

  • Earthliving Weapon - new bar - Stormstrike and Lavalash stay the same, or if Lavalash needs to live in Flametongue for the flavor then Earthliving can have Stormstrike and Primal Strike? Primal Lash? Earthliving gets access to Healing Rain which follows the Shaman. Being close to the Shaman means you get to be in Healing Rain. All the Chain Heal joke clown palsy changes we got just recently, those can live in the Earthliving imbue, where Shaman can do less damage but step into the middle lane of off healer, support. Stormstrike puts stacking buff on Shaman, disperses healing at X stacks, making the Shaman the Cloudburst totem, unless that totem goes to Windfury imbue. Mana Stream Totem comes back and is specific to this imbue. Maybe even a few totems here, like Stoneskin or Strength of Earth - UNLESS…

  • Rockbiter Weapon - new bar - Stormstrike just becomes Rockbiter, like how it was in… Legion? BFA? Slow, heavy animation and sound. Lava Lash becomes that other ability that I forgot the name of, Earth Spike, that increased physical damage done to target, big earth spike shot from the ground. Make that cleave and make it high threat. big damage mitigations here, or Stone Armor of some kind. Earth Shield cant be exclusive here but if it were baseline then a % of all damage, maybe 3%, 4%, 5%, taken by any ally within range of Shaman while Shaman has Earth Shield on is redirected to Shaman. That makes Earth Shield a timable group mitigation, like that Shield CD that Prot Paladins had, but without getting behind it because, you know, no shield, and can be balanced with more threat coming from Lightning Shield to discourage sitting in Earth Shield all day, or Lightning Shield just always does nature damage within 1 yard of the Shaman. Stone Bulwark Totem lives here, or maybe that and Stone Skin exclusive here, I dunno.

if you had, like, 3 or 4 moves that cycle into a different elemental version then that doesnt add to the buttons, keep the other few across each imbue, make Enhancement actually mean something and give it its own brand instead of handing every other Shaman ability to Monks (Storm Earth Fire, statues that function as totems) Warriors (everything thunder themed for some reason) Evokers (youve had a spec called Enhancement for 20 years but gave the femboy roblox dragons Augmentation. Fine, this is augmentation (enhancement) of the Shaman as opposed to the group).
