Hey let me try to answer some more questions that have cropped up since then. Sorry for the delay!
No, just another unnamed Sin’dorei. Specifically not Valeera. Unless you would describe Valeera as being only loyal to gold.
Sorry about the confusion here. They specifically name the Sin’dorei and Goblin. It is just that … I don’t think I’ve heard of them before.
Identities
Narsilla Keensight, codename Lancer - An old blood elf contact from the Uncrowned
Krazzet the Bishop - a goblin pirate from Freehold
To be fair, the specific deal he was asking of Zekhan was in exchange for … helping the Zandalari join the Horde council. Which was also what he was there for in the first place. So it wasn’t really tricking him into an unfair deal so much as doing something to bolster Zappy Boy’s resolve.
I’m pretty sure it is either stated to be healed completely or mostly completely recovered. Either way it is certainly on the ‘healed’ side than the 'damaged side.
Which is good! For years, the only story they pushed on the two characters were “lovers from different factions”. It’s about time they’re developed as individuals.
The only reason they are going straight to the Maw is due to the Kyrians bringing them to Oribos rather than leave them in the part of the Shadowlands they immediately wind up in.
The Arbiter not guiding the Souls sent to her elsewhere should have been reason enough to force the Archon to stop sending Souls to Oribos. Only Devos and her followers would be bringing Souls to Oribos to be thrown into the Maw in that case!
For Saurfang to have his happy Afterlife he would have to be brought there by someone other than a Kyrian since they bring Souls they sense are ready to pass on to Oribos.
There was so much Troll love in this book I could only smile at the end.
Talanji and Rastakhan reunion? Check.
Heaps and heaps of Bwonsamdi being Bwonsamdi? Check.
Bwonsamdi actually being serious? Check.
Talanji still pursuing vengeance against Jaina? Check.
More Zekhan and Rokhan development? Check!
Sky Queen confirmed to be alive? Take that Alliance!
The only complaint I had on that angle was the lack of the other Loa doing much of anything outside of Krag’wa’s theoretical toad spies. Which would be hilarious.
Even outside of the Trolls there was so much to love. Especially Ji. Every time this man opened his mouth it was to spit wisdom or clown on people. What a legend. Ji Firepaw for Warchief.
I’m firmly in the camp that Roux knocked this book out of the park, even after keeping my expectations tempered.
Saurfang not being in the Maw is a little inconsistent with the lore presented… aren’t all souls supposedly going to the Maw now which should include Saurfangs? Unless Sylvanas never wanted Saurfang to actually suffer and wanted to give him what he wanted so spared him the Maw?
In effect Saurfang never had anyone bring him to Oribos and instead somehow wound up in his Family’s Afterlife.
Cairne was able to travel to Mulgore to tell Baine to not kill the Wraith in the area so Saurfang’s Family could easily have picked him up and bring him to their Afterlife directly before the Kyrian could do anything.
Basically Souls who want to keep their Families and Friends safe from the Maw now have to directly come and pick up their Family Members and Friends rather than wait for the Kyrians as the Kyrians would just throw them into Oribos which just sends them to the Maw.
No, but her deal with the Jailer supposedly sent every soul to the Maw so unless she struck up some separate deal so that Saurfang doesn’t end up in the Maw, he should be there.
Do we know if this was always a thing or is it just a now thing with Sylvanas and the Jailer’s shenanigans?
No idea. What is known is that the Souls in Oribos going to the Maw is specifically due to the Arbiter being turned off and only showing the slightest movement when the Player shows up with the Heart of Azeroth in Oribos.
When the Players jump into the Stream of Souls they wind up falling into the Maw themselves(despite the hole being over the Black Anima Funnel not it’s actual Orange Core we see off the side of Oribos) indicating that the Kyrians send the Souls down directly over the Maw(though not Torghast which is what I presume the Orange Core of the Black Anima Funnel is).
I think some people are theorizing somebody (Bwomsamdi, for example) saved him. We’ve certainly worked with him even in Battle for Azeroth to direct some souls.
Vol
Vol’jin was saved from the Maw too, but he seems to have a purpose and isn’t just relaxing in an afterlife, so I’m not sure the “Hand of Valor” would’ve saved Saurfang just for that purpose.
Wasn’t it the Venthyr Sire dude?
Or is he just responsible for the Anima Drought and not the Maw breaking?
I don’t think that’s in either Sylvanas’ or the Jailer’s power to do so. The way it works is that all souls are bypassing the now dormat Arbiter and heading straight to the Maw. The Jailer isn’t like grabbing the souls, they are flowing into the Maw.
I thought he was the one responsible, that the climax of Revendreth is discovering he broke the machine of death.
I don’t recall Mueh’zala ever being credited with that. He was said to be the one who made Sylvanas warchief, but I don’t recall him being mentioned as being involved in the breaking.
Mueh’zala has lines about breaking the machine of death too, honestly I think him and all the dudes from the other places all worked together to screw everything over
The Climax is finding out he has been plundering Anima from the Death Realms and sending it to the Maw.
More specifically he plundered the Anima from Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald and Revendreth.
Haha… you think you can undo what I have wrought? The Jailer’s work cannot be stopped now… especially not by an idiotic loa like yourself.
Ya no be stoppin’ de Jailer! Anytin’ ya do can be destroyed. It be so easy ta upset de order of dese fools.
The Green Highlighted Text is the newest version.
The words do not mean that Mueh’zala broke the Machine of Death but that Sylvanas becoming Warchief has ensured the Jailer’s victory.
