So much fake news and fake outrage on the forum lately.

“Alex Jones reporting live, bringing what you want to hear straight to General Discussion. Tonight we’ll be discussing things that never happened, stay tuned.”

As soon as you enter an old raid, you gain a lot of power - making it very easy to solo. This tech was added a very long time ago. So when your level 50 and you enter Molten Core, you will still one shot everything because of legacy raid/dungeon mechanics.
If anything, BFA raids should be soloable quite easily in 9.0 due to this.

“When these changes go into effect, existing characters will have their levels adjusted—but not their power. This means a level 120 character will be adjusted to level 50, but will still be just as powerful as they are now. They’ll remain able to use the same equipment and items, and they’ll be able to take part in all the same content they’ve been doing.”

That’s actually a really clever solution.

Not allowing people to do legacy solo content would be one of the dumbest things that could be done, almost, if not like removing pvp. It’s essential for the game, there is people who play WoW only for farming. So it’s not gonna happen.

they are literally lowering the time required to level by “60-70%” how are they trying to increase time played metrics if they cut the leveling time in half or shorter?

I mean, its blizzard

And let’s be honest, even if they dont intend to there’s a good chance it is gonna happen, it isnt the first time they broke old raids when they were making stat squishes and this new scaling system likely is gonna break a lot of things which was exactly why we didnt want to bother with a level squish since it offers nothing other than nostalgia, requires resources and causes problems

Ever wonder why a boss 40 levels lower then you in a raid can still land a hit? Why if you are careless and afk the mechanics can still kill you?

Boss skull sign level scales to 3 levels above it’s Target but never below it’s challenge rating.

This is mostly due to tanking mechanic but the question is then why can you hurt them so bad?

They answer is your damage scaled by gear over powers the default stats and health.

That may sound really simple to say but remember each expac raises your item level and scale ceiling.

Back in Burning crusade Naxx gear laster very safely until about level 67-68. That’s means 5 man dungeon in BC massively over powered Molten core.

It’s not just the players levels, it’s the items.

Shh. Logic does not belong here.

I think “Chromie Time” is supposed to allow this. Whatever TF that actually is.

It will take a few months after release for them to test whether this is true or not. The dev team has not trust when it comes to scalling. They can’t get it right yet so no expectation that farming old content will be as easy as it is now.

They are trying to get away from you feeling more and more powerful, in fact this new expac has an area they said we will never be powerful in.

Bottom line: I have zero expectation they can pull this off.

Just those three words now scare the crap out of me. Do you realize how much doom you have brought upon us? It’s like a drunk redneck hearing the three words “I dare you,” only this time it is the angel of death

Things that have already been soloable for years to then suddenly require groups falls into the gripe that people have with the “exploit early, exploit often” trope within wow. Not exploiting in this situation but rather that it falls into an even greater “saying”, meaning the early bird gets the worm.

We had our upsets with the tuning changes of 7.3.5, 8.0, and the soft buffs of 110 elite mobs with 8.1, but those problems were resolved for a bit and not really drastic. But to full on require group sizes like in the old days when that content was current would be a big slap in the face.

However, personally I would prefer that in 9.0 and onwards blizzard lock BFA mythic raid bosses (and later expansions) to requiring groups. Keep the prestige of mythic bosses and their rewards to mean something without them being trivialized. Naturally Cutting edge and the assorted achievements would go away, but the rewards would still mean something since they required 20 people to down the boss. Rather than outright removing content in order to maintain an economy of prestige. They’ve already stated that heart of azeroth and the rank 4 essences are not going away when 9.0 drops, but when we move to shadowlands content the heart will not be active. Which leads me to believe that they are finally coming to their senses at trying to keep old content alive in the prior expansions, if you didn’t play it then or didn’t finish. That would cut down on the gripes of people wondering why we are always sequestered away in some little island/landmass and not playing the game as a whole.

Yes when they were talking about the level squish they said that. But there is another system change being made and how that affects things isn’t so clear.

It didn’t really. One reason low level content felt so unrewarding was because you would not be getting upgrades for 5 or more levels since the stats squish made multiple pieces of gear have exactly the same stats.

Anyone who told you that this would be totes funny
this whole “LOL WATCH IM GONNA GET EVERYONE SO MAD” thing
they were lying to you. No one anywhere thinks this is cool.

I understood “Chromie Time” to be the leveling phase – wherein the zones scale from 1-50 for people while they level; while the typical phase of any given zone is simply scaled to 50, allowing people above level 50 to romp through them with ease.

Any chance you’ve got the relevant citations available? I’m going to check through this thread, too, in case they’re already mentioned.

Yes that is what I understood as well. It was the people who wanted to level in a specific expansion that had to talk to Chromie.

I would be interested in a source for the other as well since I had the virtual ticket and watched a number of interviews as well and never saw that.

Although to be honest it isn’t the raids and dungeons I am concerned with because I am pretty sure those are safe. It was the world content I was more concerned with because I can very much see them thinking a pig in westfall should be the same power as my 120.
